Y'r Impossible

I'm A Bizarro

About Me

Led by "hyper-active farm wench" Stevie Guy, Preston-based 3-piece Y'r Impossible have been described as "frenetic art-house punkers" and "electro mannequins" and exude more energy (both on-stage and off) than a nuclear power plant run by electric eels during a lightning storm. Quite simply, Y'r Impossible are dirty sex-noiseniks hell bent on creating the dirtiest, spikiest music around.
After forming in Aug 2005 Y'r Impossible have gone from strength to strength supporting such acts as Help She Can't Swim, The KBC, Kill The Young, The Sunshine Underground and most recently playing at 53 Degrees in Preston as part of the Radio 1 Big Weekend Fringe events.
Watching Y'r Impossible is like the morning after sex with a stranger: all guilty looks and stale sweat, but ultimately that feeling of triumph sit deep in your gut and makes everything seem that little bit rosier. Messy and beautiful. Sexual and cold. Electric and soulful. All of these things, Y'r Impossible are...
Be there, be square.

New Review of 26/04/07 gig from Sheffield web-mag Sandman
Y’r Impossible provide a change pace, turning the amps to eleven and featuring the most magnetic front-woman performances I’ve seen in ages. After a nervous looking first song she hits her stride and is soon milking the audience like some kind of hyper-active farm wench.
Halfway through the set she asks the audience to move a bit closer to the stage. The men duly oblige. But it would be a disservice if I said it was just about her. The rest of the band provides energetic backing and they have good songs. Y’r Impossible are ace too. What a night!
The BBC said...
Preston-based 80s electro mannequins Y'r Impossible are refreshingly entertaining. With ironic yet sophisticated style, they create poseable poppy numbers which surely warrant a reinstatement of some kind of national dance routine invention craze (or was that just me at age 11?) Fronted by the gorgeously kooky Stevie Guy, this little-known gem of a band deserve to put bubblegum pink pouts on faces the nation over.
Review from the Manchester ITC exhibition 29/10/06
Y'r Impossible describe themselves as a four-piece post-punk new-wave pop outfit from sunny Preston and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. Today finds them playing in the basement of Manchester's Dry Bar and although it's small it certainly works in their favour. A small crowd looks healthy in here and those that have braved the stairs are rewarded with one of the performances of the day. Y'r Impossible deliver an infectious performance that centres around female vocalist Stevie Guy, (who pulls a succession of cute and amusing faces) but is backed up with some excellent tunes.
The influences are obvious but it's done so well that it hardly matters, this is a prime slab of 80s sounding industrial art rock at times and Y'r Impossible go along way to proving that the style still has a relevance today. There are a couple of obvious highlights, most notably 'Art Machine', which features some great meaty fuzz bass and some wild drumming. Halfway through the last song Stevie leaves the stage and dances with one of the crowd before deciding she's had enough of that and promptly leaves the room, leaving the rest of the band to finish off.
Punchy, to the point, raw, vibrant and refreshing, Y'r Impossible prove to be one of the finds of the weekend.
