GET YOUR ARSES DOWN TO THISHERE ARE SOME REVIEWS Inaudible Magazine Review: 'Library's and Bookshops are places where you go to get things that are contemplative and relaxing, maybe even have a quiet read, which is what makes this band all the more exciting. They are mixing the depression of Joy Division with the Power of the Clash and the rawness of Siouxsie and The Banshees.
They're louder than several shotguns, the lead singer yelping and the band working out to blow the crowd away. Their standout track 'Chuckles and Smiles' is very much like Joy Division - though because of new and old influences, it isn't a rip-off, which is always good. There are people dancing at the front, not very well though, a great gig and a band well worth seeing'''BOOKSTORE were very, very good. There are some excellent bands in Bolton and these are surely one of the best. To watch an often dismissive crowd being 'wowed' by a relatively unknown band is a wonderful experience and so it was with BOOKSTORE. Breathtaking musically, they are also visually captivating. Sam (bass) and Chris (guitar) bob and weave like pissed boxers, Ric (drums) hits his kit as if it was personal and Lizzie (vocals) stares and stamps like Bladerunner's female cyborg donning a Laura Ashley number. Musically they mix no wave buzzsaw guitars with post - punk rhythms, add Lizzie's singing, shouting, yelping and it is fine sounding stuff. They are back at The Cellar Bar for the courtyard festival on May 1st, don't miss it.'' - CheesePressBookstore have got more energy than all the bands so far put together. A thrashy US-hardcore-influenced punk band, the bouncy wired bassist and shirtless powerhouse drummer don’t look like they’d have got past the ID checks if they were punters. They’re led by a wild-haired blonde girl with tattoos, a cigarette permanently on the go and one fucker of a pair of lungs on her. Her ripped Black Flag T-shirt gives a clue where they’re coming from and it’s great to see a band who are actually performing as opposed to just playing. First “could be going somewhere†tip of the weekend, anyway. Manchester Music
