About Me

I have and always will find different ways to express the core of my being, which currently finds itself heavily grounded in the struggle for those who are disadvantaged, poor and dowtrodden. And in this latest venture, along with music producer Yusef Assaan of BlackCree, I have prepared a vocal representation of my grandmother’s experiences in America titled, Rena's Moan. A closet singer/songwriter, her testimony of survival was marked by sacrificing both her "dreams" and her "right to be heard" with the "hidden hope" that someone amidst the generations she birthed wouldn’t have to do the same. Her true voice is one of many. So, it was an honor to serve her spirit in this way. Before you go, please take some time and enjoy the video of a woman I strongly admire, Nina Simone. Here, she grants her voice to four women of African descent who struggle with self-definition and how it relates to the ones imposed upon us for the color of our skin.

"We Shall Overcome"
