Bio
Music lovers around the world are screaming for a change in hip-hop music; due to the repetitive sounds currently being broadcasted by the millions of radio stations and video shows everyday. Here to accept this challenge is 21 year old, prodigy of poetry, k-Drama. With k-Dramas eccentric rhyme schemes; honest humor; and Biblically relative dialogue it is sure to attract a multitude of new listeners. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, this young man is considered to have ambition like no other; and he certainly has the talent and humility to back it up.
k-Dramas new album, Behind the Glory, is a well arranged anthology of the life and times of k-Drama. Behind the Glory, displays, with honesty, the many hardships he has faced in order to achieve his height of success in God. Each of his struggles is expressed differently, giving the audience a well rounded sense of his heart for God, in uplifting tunes. Songs such as, Honored, (featuring the Grammy nominated Canton Jones) are humbling, exalt the virtue of God, and give thanks for His grace and mercy. Other compositions like Just a Man expose his neglected childhood; which was the root of sins that are daily challenges until this day.
Waste of Time has a funky, west coast, neo soul feel provided by the mastermind, Tony Stone. k-Drama unveils his testimony about his dealings with numerous girlfriends to fulfill the unquenchable void that only Christ can fill. He gets straight to the point of this song by chanting, if yall aint getting married, then yall shouldnt be together. Its a waste of time! Its a waste of time! This song has been celebrated by many including the Senior Director of New Birth Cathedrals Youth Development Department, Eddie Velez.
Each song on, Behind the Glory stands out, but the one most widely embraced has been the high energy, bass thumping Teeter Totter, produced by Cincinnati native, Platinum Tips. This song was inspired by James 1:8 and how most actions of Christians are dictated by how they feel in that moment.
Providing the entrancing, melodic rhythms for Behind the Glory, is the Dove Award Winning, Todd Collins whos produced for KJ-52, Grits, DC Talk, Audio Adrenaline, and Out of Eden; the awe amazing Tony Stone, whos been responsible for the smooth tunes of DJ Maj, KJ-52, and Viktory; and up and coming producers Theory Hazit, Platinum Tips, and Redd Lettaz. The timeless and assorted production supplied by these artistic producers will pack dance floors, take people back to church, and soothe listeners into contemplation and reflection.
My honest prayer is that James 1:2-5, Matthew 6:33, and Proverbs 3:5-6 are executed by the listener after hearing my lyrics, says k-Drama. I was discouraged at times because everyone around me kept giving up their goals and dreams. The only reason why I didnt give up mines is because I knew deep down inside, God told me to continue to rap for Him; and if I gave up back then, I wouldnt be where Im at today. I pray that those who hear the voice of the Lord will walk by faith and not by sight.
k-Drama has been rapping for the glory of God since the tender age of 14. Contributed to his belt are 3 solo albums, several compilations and mixtapes, and endless collaborations with many of todays leaders in Holy Hip Hop including; Sean Slaughter (son of Alvin Slaughter), Mr. Del (former 3 6 Mafia member), and Gotee Recording artist, manChild of Mars ill. k-Drama has rapped around the country in many events including the I Hear Music in the Air new artist showcase (www.ihearmusicintheair.com), Holy Hip Hop festivals, Fla.vor Fest (Tampa, Florida), Rap Fest (Bronx, New York) and the Holy Hip Hop Awards (Atlanta, Georgia). He has also won several talent shows in the local area. K-Drama is the CEO of T.H.I.S. Click Records, now distributed by EMI Gospel/Holy Hip Hop Music.
Born Regis Anthony Jones, his aspirations were not to become a rap artist. Regis had goals of playing basketball in the NBA and starting his own clothing line. Regis was raised in the church at an early age and knew the ways of the Lord; however, he soon strayed away, drawn by his own lust.
When Regis was 14, a classmate of his, Marquez Patterson, passed away due to a heart failure; he was 13 years old. At the funeral, Regis realized that tomorrow was not promised to him; this inspired him to give his heart to the Lord and through Christ, he has become the man that he is today.
Outside of music, Regis is a college student at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, where he is seeking his degree in Business Administration. He also is a volunteer for Public Allies, working to strengthen communities. Regis is engaged to the lovely Charde Campbell, and plans on getting married in the near future. It is noticeable that Regis not only has a lot going on with his music ministry, but his personal ambitions.
I just want to make an impact on todays generation in whatever way I can, k-Drama concludes. If its rap, thats cool. If its going to a childs sporting events, thats cool too. I pray that I write honest songs from the heart. Alongside that, I strive for my life to be better than the songs that I write.
