I am 29. I have a mother that drinks and drives. She is a chronic alcoholic and it gets worse every year. She has already have had 4 drunk drivings. What really scares me is one day she will end up killing herself or even worse, killing someone else while she is driving drunk. There needs to be tougher laws on drinking and driving. Here in Wisconsin a person has to get 5 drunk drivings before they are concidered a felon. What ever happened to 3 strikes and your gone rule? There needs to be harsher drinking and driving laws. Granted I hate seeing my mother in jail but you know what, I would rather see her in jail then to live the rest of her life knowing she killed someone and possibly killed a family. For this reason, I am studying Criminal Justice, hoping that I can try and help make a differance somewhere. The problem with chronic alcoholics is they don't know they have a problem, therefore it is hard to treat these people. What can we do from letting them drive? How about red flagging their name when they go to buy or register a car? This page is dedicated to those who have lost a loved one due to a drunk driver and for those who are against drunk driving. Just recently, my best friend lost her cousin to a drunk driver 8-21-07. Although I haven't seen Kelly since we were kids, I still remember the things Stacy, Kelly, and I use to do like going swimming at the local swimming pool picking on all the life guards. I always thought she has a beautiful smile. My heart goes out to my best friend/sister and her family and all families out there that have lost a loved one cause of someone's choice to drink and drive.
