An epiphyte is a plant that grows on another for leverage and support.
Epiphyte Records is an independent record label born out of the San Francisco Bay Area, working to give leverage and support to artists who deserve to be heard.
Epiphyte Records springs from the
Pyramind Institute for Advanced Digital Audio Training located in the San Francisco Bay Area. It draws its inspiration and talent from the school and the Bay Area community. It gives back with opportunities that make musicians successful, and with music that draws people in.
Epiphyte Music cultivates potential into precision. Develops new artists into professionals. Elevates local music. Gives music fans a taste of what they’ve never heard, and of what’s to come.
The Test Press events were created by a handful of music industry insiders with a grass roots mentality to bring DJs, musicians, vocalists and producers together in a networking mixer to present new electronic music to the San Francisco Bay Area community.
At the Test Press events both artists and producers are given the opportunity to have their music heard and critiqued by respected industry leaders, as well as allowing fans and attendees to vote for their favorite tracks.
The 2006 Test Press events received over 200 song entries, 15 of which were chosen and are included on the Test Press SF compilation CD/DVD release, representing some of the best and brightest rising stars in the SF Bay Area electronica, dance and downtempo music scene.
The 2008 Test Press song review panels occur this year on a quarterly basis. The remaining dates scheduled for 2008 are May 1st, July 17th and October 16th, and will all take place at Pyramind's new facilities located at 832 Folsom St. in downtown San Francisco, California.
