About Me

Hello and welcome to all that visit my webpage. My name is yes, Joletta. That's pronounced; (Jo-Let_Ta). I make it real easy for everyone. My family and friends just call me Jo. I Have an a.k.a. which is "Lightfeather".
I am a French/Cherokee/Choctaw Indian born and raised in Oregon. I am living in Central Washington looking for individuals with like interest to chat and have correspondence with. I have been happily married for 15 years. I have 3 grown children, a son and two daughters. In addition to this, I have 7 grandchildren.
I love to do a lot of things outdoors, gardening, hiking, camping, fishing and enjoy being with my family and friends. I am a protector of animals and nature. I will not tolerate the mistreatment of any of them. I love life and my family and friends and look forward to any time I can spend with them. I strive daily to focus on things positive and pass it along as much as I can.
Living among various nationalities and cultures in my life, I was referred to as Raven for my black hair when I was younger; as well as being called half breed so many times I loss count. I now understand what is meant when a myspace friend of mine and Jim Pell, Principal Chief of the North Alabama Cherokee Tribe; stated, “There is no such things as ‘part-Cherokee.’ Either you’re Cherokee or you’re not. It isn’t the quantity of Cherokee blood in your veins that is important, but the quality of it…your pride in it.” He also mention that he too had seen full-bloods who had virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care. Yet Jim Pell also had seen people with as little as 1/500th blood quantum who inspired the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Cherokee a proud part of their everyday life.
I,as Jim Pell and my Myspace friends have seen in our lifetimes full-bloods who have virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care. Yet, we have also seen as others that people with a little drop of Indian blood inspire the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Indian a proud part of their everyday life. This proud Indian, has had the opportunity to meet and know others in my life. Those I respect, and applaud as they have now made me feel privileged and honored to call myself Indian, and proud of it.
Native Americans are not the caricatures that we see portrayed even as school mascots; we are instead a proud people who are still here today despite having endured more than 500 years of cultural genocide and assimilation. Now is the time to begin to honor and respect Native Americans for their ethnic diversity and rich history.
If you are Native American, your ancestors were most likely some of the strongest people through out history. So, any Native American Indian reading this should have pride in their heritage. I know I am. That is why I am Native American and proud.

I'd like to meet:

I’d like to meet individuals that have interest in Poetry, Writing, Art Work,Photography, and nature. I like working in watercolor and inks. I have occasionally worked in Acrylics. I enjoy the freedom I get riding on the back of a horse. Bareback is even better. I also enjoy the freedom I have with a camera in my hand and taking pictures of God's Creation. Photography is another love of mine. To take the moment, the hand or face of a child and have that innocence frozen in time and space is unexplainable. To photograph the eyes of the elderly, those same eyes that contain the wisdom of years. To photograph the glory and majesty of a sunset or the rays of light peering through the clouds leaves me in awe and reverence of my creator’s handiwork. It leaves me breathless and mesmerized. So I keep it simple. I take pictures of all I can. Just so I can soak it all in. Life is to short. I don’t want to miss a thing. I love meeting people that love horseback riding, photography and being out in nature. I wish to see my parents again, my mother and stepfather. They are forever gone yet not forgotten. Most important, I want to see My creator, My God, My Savior, The Great Spirit of all. I would also be interested in meeting people of Native American descent. As I wish to learn those things crucial and spiritually essential to my Native American heritage. I wasn’t raised with my Native culture and heritage so I’ve been interested in learning as long as I can remember. I wish to meet others of all nationalities so I can learn of their culture, standards and beliefs.

I have come to learn in my life, taking classes in college on Cultural Diversity, and living in communities populated by Native American Indians, Russians, Latinos, Hispanics and all different cultures that to understand the spirit of a culture is to understand the culture first, where and why it is here.
My one wish in life is to have one world acceptnce of all cultures around the globe.

THE VIDEO BELOW IS BY NATIVE AMERICAN POP SINGER "JANA MASHONEE". THE SONG IS TITLED, "THE ENLIGHTENED TIME"

I REMEMBER THEM

IN THE RISING OF THE SUN AND IN ITS GOING DOWN, I REMEMBER THEM. IN THE BLOWING OF THE WIND AND IN THE CHILL OF WINTER, I REMEMBER THEM. IN THE OPENING OF BUDS AND IN THE WARMTH OF SUMMER, I REMEMBER THEM. IN THE RUSTLING OF LEAVES AND THE BEAUTY OF AUTUMN, I REMEMBER THEM. IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR AND WHEN IT ENDS, I REMEMBER THEMS. WHEN I AM WEARY AND IN NEED OF STRENGTH, I REMEMBER THEM. WHEN I AM LOST AND SICK AT HEART, I REMEMBER THEM. WHEN I HAVE JOYS I YEARN TO SHARE, I REMEMBER THEM. SO LONG AS I LIVE, THEY TO SHALL LIVE, FOR THEY ARE NOW A PART OF ME AS I REMEMBER THEM.
