I'd like to meet:
KINDRED SPIRITS WHO WALK THEIR TALK
This morning, I was thinking about my friends and family on the indian reservation in South Dakota. I was missing the little children I see at Sundance time, and wondering if they had enough to eat. You see most of the people I know out there, live on spirit. Their bellies go empty half of the time, and the majority have no electricity or heat. Its very cold out there right now. I started thinking about all of Rose's grandkids, and was wondering what I could do to help out.
There is more than a 90% unemployment rate out there, and alot of families live on very little money from the government. Shannon County is the poorest county in the U.S. Some houses have 15 family members sleeping in the living room next to the wood stove. If they even have a living room...some are in 1 room shacks. Gas prices are outrageous right now, so scraping up gas money to go get wood is next to impossible. Not to mention how easy a chainsaw breaks...then what do you do? You can't even begin to imagine the poverty out there.
So I went to wal mart this morning to try and get a gift card for Rose's family, but walmart wouldn't take a credit card as payment. My heart fell to the floor. Now what could I do to help? I could buy a few things, but how far would that go? As I was trying to figure this out, I began to feel like some of the Lakota mothers and grandmothers were hearing my thinking.
Upon that realization, the sky started to rain... as did my eyes. This was not the "Water the Earth Rain", this was the "Tears of the Grandmothers, Mothers and Children Rain". So I sat there and prayed, with tears rolling down my face.... "Creator, I am no one with out you...PLEASE HELP ME....please help me help those children! I can feel their tears grandfather...what can "I" do??!!! I can't know they suffer and do nothing grandfather. Show me a way."
Since all prayers are answered, the creator sent me an idea. So here it is:
My problem, was that I was trying to do it alone. SO, I thought of you all. If some of you are living in abundance, I thought it would be awesome to have you each send something out to the reservation to help the Old Ones and Children.
Some grandma out there who's been praying her heart out to the creator for help, could have a miracle arrive in the mail. An answered prayer. You could help answer a prayer. The mother who cant get medical care for her daughter, could receive gas money, or cold medicine for her child. When you live 20 miles from the nearest doctor, it's a long walk with a sick child. A widow who has no warriors to bring her wood or buy her a blanket, gets one in the mail. Are you feeling me yet? Their needs are simple, I made a list of commonly used things out there, and if the spirit moves you, Please Help Out.
Blankets, Chainsaws, gas cards, walmart gift cards, Phone cards, Childrens motrin, motrin cold for kids, SOCKS, Visa gift cards for gas or groceries, cigarettes(YES, cigarettes are a necessity in a world that honors tobacco as a sacred plant. That pack of smokes could be payment to a medicine man to heal a sick child or husband or mother. Those Holy Men have performed miracles of Jesus proportions with the Creators help. You could too! If you are Christian, remember the passage that Jesus said, "You too can do what I do." But please don't Push your religion on them...the creator gave them a way that works wonderfully....And, "Wanikiya" is the Lakota Word for Jesus....and they HONOR him in Native American Church ) Coffee, work gloves, tools to fix the cars they cant afford to take to the shop, colored 100% cotton fabric for prayer cloth (red, yellow, white, black, blue, green & purple) a warm jacket for men women or children, or if you chose....send some cash....and they can get what they truly need at the time while saving you some postage at the same time.
Our sundance leader, needs help all the time, because he gives away what he gets to the people. He's a medicine man/ yuwipi man and pours sweats for all of the people just about everynight. Spirit rides him hard would be putting it mildly. He has 4 adult sons and 3 daughters and several grandkids, but they kinda do without most of the time, because pops gives it away. I say 4 sons and 3 daughters, but he is truly a father to many many more.
Roses grandchildren need help too, and they live in evergreen housing, where there are lots of other little poor children running around without as well. She is in Porcupine as well. Roses daughters are a size 7 juniors to size 11 juniors and her boys are size m or 30 waist- to 34 waist...the grandbabies are all different ages....so if it doesn't fit, there is another kid on the block without who will wear it. If you don't have money for food, you certainly cant buy clothes. (Don't send old junk, these beautiful people deserve better than that) Cool toys are and idea too, but remember the batteries. Make a kid smile! (just a thought)
Which child, mother, elder, or warrior are you going to help? You don't need a name, Just put:
"Wopila" General Delivery Porcupine, SD 57772
Do you know how many people purchase monstrocities like this, when they could get around in a more reasonably priced car and feed thousands??!!
