Ukraine born producer/remixer/DJ. DJing since 1998.
Was always interested in the nature of sound. Started
experimenting with sound in 1996 along with Paul Pyshkin.
The experiments moved on from analog reel-to-reel
recordings to sequencing programs such as Impulse
Tracker and Buzz Digital Composer. The collaboration
got the name Asylum Group in 1997 with the first radio
featured track "Doesn't Sound (Sequencer)".Playdoughboy became a member of the Union Project
as a DJ. Union Project is a techno promo group in Kharkov
that later ..d their name to MEGATEQ. Megateq are:
DJ D.Just and DJ Sean. After moving to California in 2000
Playdoughboy continued collaborating with Paul and Asylum
Group as well as starting up a solo project, integrating some
hardware pieces into the software based studio,
concentrating on dirty electro house and minimal techno sound.
Since 2007 Playdoughboy is running the Electro Connect net-label.In the past Playdoughboy played records and performed live
at numerous San Francisco clubs - Mighty, BOCA, Supperclub, Roe/Prive, Studio Z,
Club 6, RX Gallery, Whisper to name a few... Also played at the Folsom Street Fair SF 2006 and volunteered at Love Parade San Francisco 2004. Press:
PLAYDOUGHBOY // Lovely EP
Some tracks were made to streak across the night sky at an open air festival.
"The Bomb", the stellar opening track on this irrefutably impressive EP, is one
of those tracks, coming on like The Chems when they still had a bee in their
bonnet. "Lovely" is another, nailing the task of using cold electronica to produce
a paradoxically melancholic sound. Elsewhere, "Rainy Day" is enjoyable electro
wanking and "Space Invasion" a bit of fun.
