About Me

Welcome to our Crucis tribute page, approved by Pino Marrone. This is NOT an official Crucis page. Send a friend request, if you love and admire their work
They began around 1974 featuring José Luis Fernández (bass and vocals), Gustavo Montesano (guitar and vocals), Daniel Oil (keys and vocals) and drummer Daniel "Topo" Frenkel. With this line-up they played many concerts at small venues ..til bassist Fernández left to form a band with keyboardist Manolo Yánez. Fernández joined Charly García..s La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros afterwards. Montesano switched to bass and recruited genius guitarist Pino Marrone, with his friend Aníbal Kerpel replacing Daniel Oil. In mid-..75 drummer Farrugia replaced Frenkel, having played in legend uruguayan progressive hard rockers Psiglo ("Ideación" 1972 and "Psiglo II" released in 1977). In november 1975, legendary producer Jorge Álvarez saw a show at Astral theatre and decided to produce and manage the group. In early 1976 the first LP was released ("Crucis") and also a single with LP tracks: "Todo tiempo posible/Irónico ser".The same year, a non-album track from the first LP sessions was featured in a compilation LP: "Exento de Dios" . The second LP, "Los delirios del mariscal" was released in 1977, and featured songwriting by all four members. The sound quality was astonishing, they mastered and mixed the LP at the Criteria Studios in United States. Both LPs are now cult classics amongst prog and symphonic rock fans everywhere. In 1978, Gustavo Montesano released his solo LP, with collaborations from all members of Crucis and Charly García, Pedro Aznar, Alfredo Toth and others. Crucis soon split.
Kerpel and Marrone moved to Los Angeles. Pino Marrone..s work around this time, check it at: www.myspace.com/pinomarrone . Kerpel and Gustavo Santaolallla (ex-Arco Iris and Soluna) formed the new wave outfit Wet Picnic and released an EP (Balls up, 1980, now a collector..s ítem). After Wet Picnic, Kerpel and "El Weto" joined new wave legends from L.A. The Plugz (The Plugz featured Tito Larriva and Steve Berlin). Pino Marrone and Kerpel also collaborated on the Gabriela..s LP she recorded in the U.S. between 1978 and 1981, "Ubalé". Other guests were Alex Acuña, David Lindley, Santaolalla, Robben Ford and Edelmiro Molinari.
