The Dead Americans—are a psychedelic rock band from Eugene, Oregon with a strong punk influence from the 1970s New York club scene (Blondie, New York Dolls, Dead Boys, Ramones, Iggy, Bowie) and political music (Fugazi, Black Flag, Bikini Kill, Spearhead/Disposable Heroes, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, DKs) that features a female singer with attitude, a solid rhythm section, and easy-to-grasp melodies that capture your attention. All of this is paired with politically-charged lyrics, rich in vivid metaphors.
In the past year, they’ve put out their first album, built a solid hometown draw, and have played shows throughout the West Coast from San Diego to Seattle. Frequent traveling and playing with other superb acts has rubbed off on this group that loves to put the fun and danger back in rock n' roll with their rowdy stage antics and eye-catching attire. They have done shows with such bands as L.A.’s The Start, and Rayzing Sons, Seattle bands The Trucks and Thee Emergency, and even had a bizarre, unintended brush with fame opening for major label rockers Shiny Toy Guns.
Their presence in the Seattle, Portland and Bay Area music scenes is growing, and their hometown draw is solid. A new album is in the works as they continue to gel as a band. Sure, the world can be a scary place, but The Dead Americans fight back with rock n' roll!!!
