Miss Bliss

If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh. Otherwise, they'll kill you.

About Me

The woods are lovely, dark and deep...

My Interests

Boom. For Real.
My hobbies/ passions/ time-wasters/ soul-regenerating activities include singing, dancing, travel writing, traveling, observing & contemplating, songwriting, playing piano, drumming (kit), live music, sacred music, nonprofit work, staring at my garden, writing poetically (or sometimes actual poems), meditating, dreaming about kittens, puppies, and babies (seriously), photographing irony, figure sketching, practicing yoga, cooking and eating gluten-free vegan food, hiking by myself, hiking with friends, submerging myself in lakes, communing with mama ocean and her creatures, lying on forest floors, natural health care, making journals, writing in journals, commuting by bicycle or public transit, reading nonfiction, writing nonfiction, making collage artwork, obsessive organizing and list making, and slowly, painfully, brilliantly, yet reliably achieving enlightenment... Or at least something resembling humanity...

Someday I'd like to kite surf on the Columbia, hug a harbor seal, sing a song that makes you cry, get published by Lonely Planet, build my own mud house, meditate in Japan, be a punk rock drummer, and help a girl feel good about herself.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Check my Friends list.

Movies:

I'm not big into video in any form. (See "Television" blurb.) But I do love a good comedy, magical fantasies, kick-ass adventures, documentaries, and occasionally anything that rips my heart out for a good reason.

Television:

In my personal religion, voyeurism is a sin. I prefer to live life rather than to watch others live it. I turned off my television several years ago and never looked back...

Books:

Favorites of mine include The Artist's Way, The Four Agreements, Song and Silence, High Tide in Tucson, Right Use of Will, Ecstasy Is a New Frequency, Conversations with God, Siddhartha, The Alchemist, The Practical Dreamer's Handbook, Letting Go of the Person You Used to Be, The Art of Travel, The Dharma Bums, Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior, and The Secret. I also read anything about herbal medicine, yoga, raw/vegan foods cookbooks, poetry, travel memoirs, ecological thought, oceanography, natural building, political philosophy, music, and songwriting. Favorite journals: Parabola, Orion, Passionfruit. Favorite authors: Clarice Lispector, Chuck Palahniuk, Louise Glueck, Barbara Kingsolver, Arundhati Roy (brutally beautiful).

Heroes:

Pippi Longstocking, Virginia Woolf, Marie Curie (I should have KNOWN girl was a Scorpio!), Nellie Bly, Amelia Airheart (that's how she should've spelled her name), Bjork, Mother Theresa, Amma, Martha Graham, Leslie Temple-Thurston, Mary Magdelene, Joan d'Arc, Wolfie Mozart, Jeff Buckley, Emily Dickinson, don Miguel Luiz, William Blake, Henry David Thoreau, Carl Jung, Pema Chodron, Bonnie Raitt (another Scorpio!), Joel Barber, and my Grandma Millie.
