About Me
Andreas Westman was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1971. He started to play music at the age of nine. After finishing upper secondary school Andreas continued to study music at Kävesta folk high school. 1992 Andreas received scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. During the studies in Boston he also was acknowledged with the “Outstanding Performer Awardâ€. Here he studied intensively with teachers such as Bruce Gertz, Hal Crook, Herb Pomeroy, David Clark and Ed Tomassi. Andreas was a performance major, principal instrument bass, and he also studied arranging, composition etc. After receiving a Diploma degree graduation from Berklee he moved back to Stockholm to attend the Swedish music scene. Andreas has been tutoring music at various music schools such as Kulturama and Stockholm conservatory of music (SMK) primarily in jazz ensembles, music theory and individual bass. Andreas has since his youth until present time been playing with various musicians from many genres including jazz bands, pop/rock bands, symphony orchestras, big bands and cover/dance bands. He has focused on his own music in various projects and bands. Andreas Westman Quartet, including tenor Robert Nordmark, piano Daniel Karlsson, drums Marcus Nowak, is playing melodic and dynamic music written by the leader. Andreas music and compositions has been awarded with several government grants from The Arts Grants Committee. Further more he has been working, live and in studio, with numerous of musicians and artists such as the Aliveband, C.J. Palmer, the Moonrakers, Blender, trio Hakana, Da Buzz, Svante Turesson, Putte Wickman, Göran Edman, Kens and Barbie, Nils Landgren, Heads or Tales, Fredrik Kempe, Cirrus and many more.
