About Me

Hi there! Please use the white tab to your right to scroll up and down in this box!Derby, baby! - I'm a rollerderbyette with the Duke City Derby . We're an all-girl flat track roller derby league. We skate on quads, not rollerblades, practice dilligently and bruise frequently. You can visit the site above for more information on the sport, or stay tuned here as I add more information about our upcoming bouts.I currently skate for two teams: * My home team, the Derby Intelligence Agency. * The all-star travel team, the Munecas Muertas.BOUT SCHEDULE: 10/20/07: CHAMPIONSHIP - DIA V. DOOMSDAMES (HOME) 11/10/07: MUNECAS MUERTAS V. MNRG ROCKITS (AWAY) 12/1/07: MUNECAS MUERTAS V. TEXECUTIONERS (AWAY) 4/25/08: MUNECAS MUERTAS V. MILE HIGH CLUB (AWAY) I'm the Newbie Coordinator for Duke City Derby, a league representative in the WFTDA (the national governing body for flat track derby), the WFTDA western division rookie-league wrangler and the WFTDA Training Subcommittee chair. What all of this means is that I spend like 90% of my time skating, reading about skating, thinking about skating, talking about skating, teaching other people how to skate or helping to organize other skaters. Obsessed? Nah, I'm no Dahmernatrix !Polyglot-Faker - I think I've forgotten almost all of what I used to know. But I've studied a bit of a lot of different languages, and some linguistics.Extrovert, Single - self explanatory.Crafty - In Eyeless in Gaza, Aldous Huxley comments on some ladies knitting by saying, "As if you could kill time without injuring eternity." I knit, draw, sew and quilt.Context - I was raised in the sea of desolation that is west Texas. I now live in Albuquerque, New Mexico - a place I consider something very close to paradise.Politics - I consider myself classically Liberal (fiscally conservative, socially liberal, the "do as you will" philosophy.) I most closely identify with the Libertarian party.Aspirations - You can find a pretty good list of what I hope to do with my life, the trivial and vital, at my 43 Things .--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--"Albert Camus wrote that the only real question is wether or not to kill yourself. Tom Robbins wrote that the only real question is wether time has a beginning and an end. Camus obviously got up on the wrong side of the bed, and Robbins apparently forgot to set the alarm. The only real question is this: Who knows how to make love stay?Answer me that and I will tell you wether or not to kill yourself. Answer me that and I will ease your mind about the beginning and end of time. Answer me that and I will reveal to you the purpose of the moon."-Tom Robbins, Still Life with Woodpecker
