About Me

I am a music fiend.I have been listening to a lot of jazz lately, and if I could be anywhere I would have been present at some of the great Blue Note and Prestige recording sessions in New York and New Jersey in the 1950s, listening to the likes of Art Blakey, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown, et al., with their joyous playing, their extraordinary musicianship and originality, as they created some of the most amazing music I have ever heard. I would also like to have been present in 1955 when Glenn Gould recorded Bachs Goldberg Variations. It would have been a volcanic eruption, beautifully revealing the great emotional volatility of this work.I would have liked to have been present at the premier of Beethoven's 9th symphony and the gross fugue.Lately I have been discovering the joys of Klezmer--Golem, Metropolitan Klezmer, Isle of Klezbos, Abe Schwartz and his Yiddisher Orchestra. This music is so much fun yet profound, blending joy with sweet sorrow.
