Bitch..s Video: " Two Girls Strong,"
from her new album, "Make This/Break This" on Kill Rock Stars,
made in collaboration with Daniela Sea (The L Word) and Tom Gilbert
Bitch is an entertainer who lives in NYC. (You may know her from her
former band Bitch and Animal
(Righteous Babe Records), or John Cameron Mitchell’s movie
“Shortbusâ€) She is a musical poet.
She uses the electric violin to rock. She plays the bass, keyboards
and ukulele. One thing you
can count on with this compelling performer is her ability to command a
stage and her radical
lyrics and antics. Her most recent release, “Make This/Break
This†came out on Kill Rock Stars
and is her first solo studio album since leaving her former band. It
combines her violin and
words and bass mostly, and there’s one track of just her and her
ukulele. It’s performance-arty,
heartfelt and pushy. Her band, The Exciting Conclusion, is a trio that was formed in
February of 2005 when Bitch met
drummer Lee Frisari (Circus Amok) and the two started melding their
similar classical backgrounds
with their rock sensibilities. Soon after, Daniela Sea (the L word)
joined forces and the three
did a sold out run in the East Village and has been touring and writing
songs ever since. Daniela
has since been replaced by Gabriel K., who has brought his own
Alaska-born-new-yorker sound to
the mix.Bitch has also been producing a record of the folk-hero Ferron. The
two have been a seemingly odd
billing, but once one sees them on stage their connection is obvious.
She has made the entire
record on her laptop, and camped out in the woods in her RV outside of
Ferron’s house to make it.
