Attack Of The Giant Squid

oldschool noise from the future

About Me

Attack Of The Giant Squid has been one of the most entertaining bands in Phoenix for nearly 5 years now and has no plans of going away anytime soon. Doing everything from funk to rock to avant garde noise to very subtle melodic lines fused together by intense emotion. They have definitely paid their dues in the instrumental jam band scene but are now ready to present a very different vision.
The Squid, as referred to by fans, is a creative partnership formed by producer/composer/guitarist Tony Patiño, bass fisherman/composer David Gramp, and visual artist/sound manipulator Andrew Haight. For the Squid it is important to continue the process of evolving, aptly abandoning old ideas to avoid clichés and repetition. To put it simply, this is a band that thrives on non-restraint to avoid boredom.
Fast forward 4 1/2 years and we now are presented with a musical collaboration that utilizes the talents of over eight different local musicians, allowing the squid to dip its tentacles into various genres of music with its new lineup streaming across a wide array of training and influences.
While pushing forward from their debut album to forging a new beginning they’ve added singer Sean Brennan (Yellow Minute/Ember Coast), drummer Gannon Burliegh (Cannonball, Zelda I and II), percussionist/vibraphonist Jesse Joaquin Parker (Antedote, Neo-Primitive), keyboardist/sax/flutist Shea Marshall (The Energy Trio, The Latest), and saxaphonist Jeff Gutierrez.
Keep eyes, ears, and the harpoons ready for the release of their second album due to attack this fall 2008.
