Born in Ireland, Ed started his career following DJ’s from venue to venue learning his trade and developing the foundations of how to read a crowd and develop a night. From when he turned 18 he could be found in humble surroundings playing at 21st birthdays, weddings and at bar gigs around Ireland. At the age of 19, Ed was signed to the Tia Maria and Cidona Club tours catering for the full spectrum of clubbers within Ireland. His reputation growing and ability not only to read a crowd but take their energy and return it with interest during his sets caught the attention of radio stations in Irelands capital city where he hosted a 3 hour show which provided a fusion of music styles including progressive/tech house & wet & hard. Ed was lucky enough to be spinning in Ireland at a time when he had the opportunity to learn and spin with some of Irelands most talented DJ’s including Ed Whitty, John Gibbons, Mark Kavanagh and Tom Cole to name a few. In the winter of 2002 Ed qualified for and finished runner up in the Smirnoff DJ Competition hosted in Solas, Dublin.Never wanting to stay still for too long Ed moved to Galway City in 2003 where he set up base as a reputable DJ & Promoter. From here he launched the Tribe club nights which hosted DJ’s such as Polands Martin Polansky & one of Irelands most internationally acclaimed DJ’s John Gibbons. While visiting Florida for the WMC Ed developed a taste for the Electro and the afterhours which were not available in Ireland. Unfortunately we switch off our clubs at 2am so that was a major factor in Ed’s decision to move permanently to Miami in April of 2007.Upon arriving in Miami, Ed joined forces with Latis Productions who had established themselves as one of South Florida’s most exciting DJ/Entertainment agencies boasting promotion work for Pawn Shop & Discotekka and acting as a primary advisor and agent to Vybe Radio. Having always wanted to produce music as well as spin Ed rejoined his former DJ partner in crime DJ Ed Whitty to form a production duo under the calling name of i.E.D. Credits thus far are an Electro remix to Ean Sugarman’s “In the Beginning” which was signed to ESP Label in July of 2007. Ed was also invited to spin an hour show each week on Miami’s Vybe Radio which runs in conjunction with 1club.fm which allows its DJ’s reach a global audience. You can currently find Ed spinning every Wednesday on Vybe 107.1fm & also in Downtown Ft Lauderdale in Porterhouse. The future looks very bright for both Ed and i.E.D as remix offers and original tracks continue to develop. With the guide of Latis I have no doubt we will be seeing much more of Ed Walsh. And in the words of the man himself…
