PATRICK BATEMAN
Yeah, we know you might have given more notice to the blood and gore of the character from the Bret Easton Ellis novel, but one things for sure: That Patrick Bateman knew how to party. Same with this one. Already a household name when the Danish club scene exploded in the late nineties, Kenneth Broxgaard aka. DJ Patrick Bateman has been a key party player for a decade. Hes a prime son of a Danish club/techno/electro scene that just keeps on getting better and better and he knows all the artistic effects down to the last beat from vicious hard minimalism over luscious deep tech-house to wicked, wicked electro.
He started spinning records in the early nineties with the early boy love for Inner City, Italian house and rave music and in the years thats followed; Patrick Bateman has covered huge amounts of space in an ever curious exploration of electronic party music.
In 1994 Patrick Bateman started out as a promoter, and in 1995 he met well known Danish promoter and DJ Peter Lundgreen, who Bateman started the club Hypnotic Basement with. That club had it all. Underground sound and atmosphere. It was a huge success in a Danish club environment that then was just on the verge of moving from the strictly nerd-driven underground to the energy-driven party craze that it is today.
In January '98, Peter Lundgreen started The Rocket Club, a monthly based techno and house club with both local and international DJs and live acts and of course Bateman and Lundgreen as resident DJs. This club is now a very well known name in the Danish clubbing encyclopaedia.
Musically, Detroit techno and Chicago house made a huge impact on Patrick Bateman in 95 and so did the looping mono techno from Sweden and the UK in 98. But minimal techno and house have always taken up major parts of Batemans all-embracing record shelves. Since 99/00, he has been spinning minimal techno and house exclusively German style and with the odd twist of electro and old school classics thrown in for good measure.
The last 4-5 years, Patrick Bateman has really made his mark. Touring everywhere in Denmark and many venues in Europe, Batemans remarkably energetic, spot free sets have presented the minimal techno/house vibe to an audience thats moved from curious to responsive to exhilarated.
The guy may not be guzzling blood like his alter ego but hes a superb party DJ.
In 2004, Bateman started the label Tic Tac Toe Records. The label will be focussing on minimal house and techno, primarily from all the Danish talents, but also with international acts.
He started touring abroad in '99 and that has until now brought him to places like:
