THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO MAUREEN AND KAREN WHO HAVE JUST WOWED ME WITH THEIR MUSIC AND THEIR TALENT. MY GOOD FRIENDS THE “ENNIS†ARE TRULY CANADIAN AND SUCH A GREAT JOY TO MEET!!!
‘Ennis’ are sisters who have the talents far beyond what I've ever heard. The voices blend so very well and the many instruments that are played make it an awesome sound and should be heard by anyone who likes the home, country, roots feeling.
They are Canadian and have done this country proud. They were born in Newfoundland and carry the Irish culture and background along with them. .
Maureen and Karen all have qualities to be a gifted couple of gals! From writing and creating their own songs, to playing many instruments with a grand harmony and something that is to be heard!! They are real sisters and the talent in that family as I always say... SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
Maureen and Karen ( along with their sister Teresa) have two awards and with many hopes to join the ranks of receiving more as the write, produce and sing their hearts out. They have toured with names such as Jann Arden (also a Canadian singer) and many other names to numerous to mention.
The last cd that came out was "Be Here for a While". It is a wonderful and a cd that you will never tire of. They had Randy Scruggs produce it and it came together so very well.
Maureen is the first born in the family and is the songwriter and does lead vocals and guitar. The middle-born Karen plays both the tin whistle and flute, is learning the mandolin and does step dancing. She loves a challenge and pushes herself out of her comfort zone when she can.
In 1997 Maureen and Karen recorded their first album (along with Teresa), Red Is the Rose. The excellent debut made the music world take notice, and earned the sisters the MIA Folk Album of the Year Award. The next year found them adding Female Artists of the Year and Group of the Year awards to their growing list of accomplishments. In 1998, a sophomore album, Christmas on Ennis Road, appeared in time to warm holiday hearts. The joyful album also landed Maureen, Karen, (and Teresa) their own Christmas Special on CBC television, giving them the chance to reach a whole new fan base. In 2000, The girls then released a third album simply titled Ennis Sisters 3 and they were awarded another Album of the Year award. A year later Warner Music Canada signed the sisters and work on a new album began. Some of the tracks on this talented trio's recordings include "Lord of the Dance," "Rainy Days," "If Anything Happened to You," "When Tomorrow Comes," "Can't Stop the Dance," "Never Puts His Fiddle Down," and "Forever Love."
They have continued to WOW everyone wtih there latest recordings.. "Holding On", "Give me Love", "Crossroads", “Kiss Him†and others. As Maureen and Karen head off to Nashville to persue the great careers and also do what they do best, we wish them a world of joy and happiness! I’m sure they will delight any audience they perform for, and we’ll just let the music play!!!
They have recently moved (Sept 2007) from the East Coast in Canada to Nashville Ten, where they are making into the U.S.A. music charts. We know they are living in Nashville now, but truly Canadians at heart and the best DUO!!!
I am thrilled to be a small part in “Ennis†and my thanks to Maureen and Karen for giving me the opportunity to show my appreciation by creating this page.
Loads of hugs and my best always Linda T. “E.D.â€
