About Me

I guess it all started when i was 13 or so, when i would turn off all the 'magic finger' autochord crap on Mom's Kimball organ, and began teaching myself to play 'Greensleves' & 'Snowbird'. From there i just started learning stuff i liked by ear. My folks got me the Radio Shack 'Minimoog', and pretty soon i was high school gigging jams like Head East's 'Never Been Any Reason' & Rush's 'Tom Sawyer'. I got a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder when i bought my first crappy electric guitar, and i think the Korg Poly-800 came soon after. Thus began my journey of wanting to write and create cool music, as opposed, i suppose, to mastering any given instrument. I played in various bands through the ages, starting with covers of Rush, Van Halen (Jump!), Bon Jovi, Loverboy (wasn't everyone, um, asexual in the 80's?); to quickly jumping ship to the early alternative scene, with REM, the B-52's, the Police, DEVO, the Cure, Meat Puppets, the Minutemen, while still hanging on to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush, AC/DC, Judas Priest. This progressed to Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. as that whole scene emerged...All the while, I had my 4-track and was writing songs on my own, wanting to be the great white Prince...lol...I played some of the stuff i wrote in various bands when possible, but i would also write songs in various inappropriate styles. The next major event was meeting Adam, aka Caveman Recording, after he moved to Charleston. We hooked up after he started his studio by the same name. He hired me as his recording engineer, and it was one of the funnest times of my life. We became friends and i was better able to discover my love of mixing, and began picking up work mixing live shows as well...All priorities changed soon after my son was born. Adam had already shut down the studio, after having his first girl, and we were doing some work out of Jay Miley's place (Charleston Recording Studios). Adam moved away... I put it all down, save for sitting around strumming an acoustic, for a few years. Making a great new friend in Eric Medley, when he moved to Charleston, rekindled the passion to create music again. I jammed in a band called Paper Thin (originally Baby Gorilla, my fav) for a year or so, but really want to dig back into writing & recording. My wife and son are my two best friends, and i like being around them as much as possible... I've recently switched to Pro Tools mode, after being an early Cakewalk user and dabbling with Cubase recently. I always love meeting other artists to collaborate and create with. Drop me a line.....
