Gisela João

A presença e voz de Gisela João têm sido acolhidas, desde 2003, em espaços variados no Grande Porto e no Norte do país que reconheceram na jovem os encantos, o talento e a vontade genuína de cantar o fado que lhe dita o coração. O público, de início desconcertado com o contraste abismal entre a figura de menina e moça e a voz cheia, quente e imponente, cedo baixa os braços e deixa-se enlevar pelos cantos de amor, mágoa, alegria e saudade do seu reportório, presentes na condição lusitana e, afinal, em toda a tribo humana, o que explica o convite para actuar em Macau, durante o mês de Abril de 2007. Em 2006, é vencedora do 1º prémio do XV concurso de fado amador “J. F. Lordelo do Ouro” e edita “Gisela João – O Meu Fado”, onde é acompanhada à guitarra portuguesa e viola. Nas actuações, cada vez mais solicitadas e resultando até em residências periódicas, Gisela ergue-se nos ombros e vozes dos seus gigantes adorados, buscando a sua expressão original, a pureza de um canto que também se quer impuro, como as paixões que arrepiam a alma. A voz de Gisela modela-se, cantando; faz o caminho, caminhando, sem outro guia que o entusiasmo que acalenta de, um dia, certamente bailando, lá chegar. Gisela João’s voice and presence have been received, since 2003, in various venues in the Porto area and in the North of Portugal where her young charms, talent and burning desire to sing Fado have found their place. The audiences, initially overwhelmed by the huge contrast between her girlish figure and her warm, powerful voice, immediately surrender their hearts and sail away in the songs of love, heartbreak, joy and longing – and “saudade” – that are heir to the Portuguese soul and, after all, to the human tribe, which explains the invitation to perform at Macau, throughout the month of April 2007. In 2006, Gisela wins the first prize of an amateur Fado competition and releases her first recording, intitled “Gisela João – O Meu Fado”, in which she sings accompanied by guitar and Portuguese guitar. In her performances, which have been increasing and even giving way to periodical shows, Gisela stands on the shoulders and voices of her beloved giants, while seeking out her own original expression and the purity of a song which is necessarily impure, like the many passions that torment the soul. Gisela’s voice takes its own shape by singing; her path is built as she travels through it, having her enthusiasm as her only guide and the cherished hope of one day, surely dancing, getting there.
