They call me Hint. I make music. I also DJ.
Here's what people are saying about the new Hint sound:
"The mighty Hint shows the dubstep / grime people how to make a bassline proper on the awesome "At The Dance" - cut-up hip-hop lyric, a razor sharp breakbeat, and a cavernous bass that will test the merits of the tallest speaker stacks. This cut means business. Understandably, this has been the Tru Thoughts DJs' biggest dancefloor weapon for a while now. "Keep Your Shirt On" is a sly funky soul cut with ace vocal stylings from Laura Vane, and "I, Silverfish" is another genre-bending fusion of dubstep rhythms with mind twisting lyrics courtesy of Rup. Finally, to calm things down a little, there's the dreamy "Mutes & Drops", and the guitar wielding "Snake Patrol". Buy this record. Your hard earned cash will thank you for making such a wise investment."
- DMCUpdate.com Review of "At The Dance" EP
"Those of you not yet convinced by Hint should certainly take a bit of time to check this single out. Possibly his best, most rounded work to date, ‘At The Dance’ certainly manages to cram a lot into its 20 minutes. There’s a touch of future soul for the ladies, a touch of Zinc style, bassline-flexing business for the booth watchers, off kilter hip hop for the b-boys and a slice of ad-friendly, downtempo beats for the executives. Full house!"
- DJ Mag Review of "At The Dance" EP (dec 07)
"Highly versatile EP from Hint though the title track is the one that gives the most obvious dancefloor rewards. It comes on like a bastard sister to Scruff’s remix of Capoeira Twins from several years back with a MONSTER bassline and cheeky sample. It would, undoubtedly, nice up most dances. "Snake Patrol" sounds like Jean-Luc Ponty being assaulted by an AKAI sampler, while "I, Silverfish" is nicely delivered UK hip-hop with a nod to the grime and dubstep."
- iDJ Magazine Review of "At The Dance" EP (dec 07)
"Lots of content as usual from Hint - all of a top notch quality... The piano and strings are worth the price of admission alone on Mutes & Drops.
- Tim Scott (Samurai FM)
"At The Dance is absolutely wicked!! Love that ill bassline & of course the vocal sample."
- Maceo (Innocent Sorcerers)
"This guy is years ahead...He can make blissful downbeat and he can make
dancefloor bombs. Brilliant! Brilliant!"
- Dave Spenceley (Music Evolution, Penzance)
"This is an absolute bona fide belter of an EP! "At the Dance" just kills it
every time and the depth and diversity of the EP is a lesson to lesser
artists. Excellent!"
- Chris Welch (Phonetics/ Common Ground)
"At the Dance is tight like Jessica Alba!"
- Tony Poland (Slutty Fringe)
"At The Dance is an absolute fkin killer... Played it on a big system at the weekend and it made me nearly shat myself."
- Shepdog (Freestyle Records / Nice Up!)
"At The Dance is a corker!"
- Andy Smith (Portishead / All Over / SBN Radio)
"Filled to the brim with genius, forward thinking awkward dance music."
- Mr. Scruff
"Sterling stuff as ever ! Actually doing first half of new Tonic show today and put 'Keep Your Shirt On' straight on there! Absolute killer, congrats (Rest of the EP is great too)."
- Chris Duckenfield (Swag / Duckbeats)
"He said he liked the sounds you used, or something"
- Someone who played "Keep Your Shirt On" to MJ Cole, but couldn't really remember what he said
"Your Tremmuh tune is LARGE! Mashed up Sao Paolo last week then Rio too… And absolutely tore the room in half when I played it at Co-Op Easter Spesh a few weeks back. Instant rewind. Big!"
- Benji B (1xtra)
"Hint is one of the most creative, and perhaps most unsung young producers around. Check this boy out!!!"
- Dom Servini (Straight No Chaser / Wah Wah 45s)
