THE SOCIAL BOURNEMOUTH
The bastard love child of Chris Pedley (The Baker Brothers) & Mr.Doris (Soundcrash, Bang! Records) was born out of the realization that there simply was no real funk fuelled LIVE mash up in Bournemouth... with the current massive resurgence (well it never really left) of the Jazz-Funk scene happening all over the country and Europe (and even worldwide), Bournemouth native Pedley and London born, Ibiza bred Doris thought it was about time to do something about it…
It was at that point those nice chaps at the ever forward thinking bar 60 Million Postcards (Bournemouth) offered them a home for their musical shenanigans…
And so The Social was born... the music policy – anything that’ll put a smile to your face and a wiggle to your ass… only the best in bootylicious breaks, roots rock reggae, floor filling funk, latin beats, disco and drum & bass… get on down to get on down…
With guests so far including The Baker Brothers, Dr. Rubberfunk, Big Trains Haymaker, Nostalgia77, Aldo Vanucci, Big Daddy Moochin, Shepdog & Featurecast... running every 2nd Friday of the month... The Social will see the coming together of Live bands and DJ’s… all the very cream of the current (and past) British and International scenes… add to this an absolutely cracking crowd and we got ourselves a recipe for the good stuff...
Already making tremendous waves on the British & International scenes with nods so far from Gilles Peterson (BBCRadio1), Craig Charles (BBCRadio6) & Mark Lamarr (BBCRadio2), as well as massive local & national press coverage including The Guardian & Blues & Soul... and we would have none of it without you! may it long continue!
