About Me

I feed my kids with graphic design and the publishing of greetings cards. I feed my soul by playing and teaching Balinese Gamelan Gong Kebyar.Since 1993, I've been the director of the Dartington Gamelan, the resident Balinese Gamelan Gong Kebyar at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, UK. It was the first set of Gong Kebyar resident in Britain and has been at the college since 1979. My group today consists of undergraduates, postgraduates, staff and ex students at the college. We have performed all over the UK and Europe, and have introduced literally thousands of people to the joys of gamelan with workshops and gigs.I also teach and play classical clarinet.Other things I love about life are...my kids, the sea, my friends, cream buns, splendid coffee, music, more music, Balinese gamelan, my Lola car, the smell of November, laughing, reading, sleeping, hugging, dancing, flying, driving, Witch the dog, olives. I really like sleeping in a tent.I don't like people who slurp their soup. There are some words I can't cope with. One begins with an "M". Please don't try and guess it. I don't like people doing that.Things I am very bad at and wish I could do better: looking after CDs.
