It's time.

In 1995 I attended a professional recording and producing school in San Francisco called California Recording Institute. Throughout the course I learned many things. I learned how to engineer and mix live sound, produce, mixdown, and master music, and record live musicians.

I completed this course with the intention of moving into the recording arts field. Needless to say I got sidetracked by 12+ years of Djing and Nightclub promoting in San Diego and other spots in California, Mexico, and in general anything to do with the online business.

Recently, I'm not feeling the DJ thing anymore. When I was into it, I was partying heavily, a lot younger, and a lot more wild and adventuorus. Lately, I've been going through some personal decision making periods and I've decided to leave the DJ thing behind all together to pursue full time music production. I have been musically involved and entertaining since age six; It's been a great run. Part of my journey now into producing again is to learn how to play the piano, which I partially already do. Since I play by ear, I have to focus all my creative energy into that before I can fully throw myself in the production world. Of course its not necessary to play piano to produce, however I will be composing my own original music and it will definitely make my life easier.

It won't be long till you're dancing to something that your good buddy Airek produced. 12 years of contacts in the So Cal club scene pretty much guarantees you that I've got contact with the guys on the turntables in the hottest spots around Cali, Vegas, Arizona and Miami to name a few spots. I could never leave music altogether, but I'm passing the headphones to the younger guys coming up that have that passion for staying up with whats going on in the DJ world and giving it to people every week.

Allowing myself to let go of the thing that most ties me to partying and excess will free up energy to focus on producing music for things that will actually pay me considerable money and give me the reward of creating again. I feel brand new.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Airek has always had an ear for rhythm. He has been a drummer since age six. At age six he began taking music lessons in his fifth grade of elementary school. Throughout his grammar and high school years, Airek practiced and performed on a multitude of different instruments and in marching and concert activities. He was heavily involved in the schools music program and reluctantly sat out of most sporting activities to dedicate more time to the music. He graduated from high school and moved on to a stint in the U.S. Air Force in order to have the opportunity to go to college. He majored in Computer Science and fulfilled his military obligation in 1993.

It was at this point that Airek began to realize his true calling to music. Gratefully, the late 80's and early 90's were chocked full of new forms of music and expression. Hip-Hop and Rap were born, Alternative and Dance were being conceived and developed. The massive amount of new and different sounds fascinated the drummer, and led him to associate himself with producers and artists in the Hip-Hop and Dance communities. The years following were a training camp of some sort to develop his brain and personality to deal with the industry at a professional level. In 1996, DJ Airek put himself through a professional recording, engineering, and production school out of San Francisco. While at the school he realized his calling was dance. Airek began focusing his energy on the dance community and became involved locally and across the nation as he traveled. Airek has lived and performed in some of this countries biggest cities in the global dance community. Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego have all been home to Airek. He has recently traveled to New Orleans to perform at The Players Ball with Kid Capri, Slick Rick, and Too Short.

DJ Airek gained international status by traveling to Brasil for a grueling 8 month tour around Brasil that began in July of 1999. He performed all over Brasil in some of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. Touring around Brasil really developed a passion inside Airek to be involved in the dance music business for good. He has an impressive history in the local San Diego entertainment industry.

Prior to taking on DJing full time, Airek was a very founded well respected promotional image in the San Diego scene. Having been part of one of the most successful Saturday nights to ever hit San Diego, Club Glitter @ The Baja Brewing Co. launched Airek into the underground forever. By organizing and producing some notorious San Diego one-off events, Airek realized that it was time to do the unimaginable, and go down the DJ/Producer road for life. Now a respected San Diego nightclub jock, Airek works with the cities top promoters to help mold and evolve San Diego's night life and entertainment industry. Airek performs locally on KHTZ 90.3 Jammin Z90 on "The House Of Z" show.

Airek is available to travel locally, nationally, and internationally. He has another tour lined up to Brasil in the summer of 2002. Airek would love nothing more than to come to your club and make your customers sweat and move, to his indefinable style of mixing. Whether your needs be House, Progressive, NRG, or a fusion of multiple genres of electronic music, Airek will chameleonize himself to fit your environment.
