Born in Barrie ON Canada, Sherri Lynn Pascoe (cut short to Shari Lynn), grew up listening to all styles of music. "I've listened to it all! I grew up in a small town outside of Barrie and my passions were music, horses and playing cards. They still are today!" says Shari.
Over the years, Shari was able to develop herself as a performer having started out in a tribute band traveling and performing across Canada and the USA at casinos, bars and headlining fairs and festivals of up to 32,000 people. She was also invited to perform in Europe, Egypt, the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan. "It was a great learning experience and a stepping stone for who I am today." says Shari.
With her success as a tribute artist, Shari was hired by Chorus Entertainment as well as interviewed by CMT Canada and Country 95.3. In 2003, she was asked to join Shania Twain on stage at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto by Shania herself. She was later asked by CTV to be a special guest on Canada AM with Shania Twain co-hosting the show.
Shari comments, "In June of 2006, I was called by one of my agents to do a gig in Gogama ON just outside of Timmins, however I was no longer accepting any gigs as I had just started recording my album. I was only filling out my current contracts. The agent then said to me that I wouldn't want to turn this one down as it had something to do with Shania Twain. It was a big compliment as a performer to learn that the gig was to perform for Shania's family and friends at the reserve where she grew up. I was later told by the Chief of the reserve, Willis, of Mattagami First Nations, who is also her cousin that I was recommended by Shania herself, in which I was honoured."After several years at working hard at her tribute act, Shari took a shot at branching out as an original artist. It was in 2004, where Shari got her break, when she was invited to showcase some original songs in South Carolina along side of Grand Ole Opry Stars, Ernie Ashworth and the Legendary Charlie Louvin of The Louvin Brothers who also won a Grammy in 2004 for the tribute album Livin' Lovin' Losin' Songs of The Louvin Brothers. "It was a great experience and privledge performing with Charlie. He's a card and likes to tell jokes! He made me laugh alot and we really hit it off! He's still a good friend today. It humbled me immensley when he told me that Elvis use to open for the Louvin Brothers in the beginning of Elvis's career. Charlie also told me that Elvis's mother was a big fan of the Louvin Brothers and Elvis use to ask him for his CDs to give to his mother. I watched a movie recently on Elvis and it portrayed that also in the movie." comments Shari. Charlie took a shining to Shari and offered to help her in any way he could. "Shari is better than two thirds of what is on the radio now. She is definatley Super Star material, she's got a million dollar personality and she's cute too!", exclaims Charlie Louvin.A friend of Shari's, Cindi Marx comments, "I think it was in 2004 that really helped Shari decide to pursue her dreams of becoming an original artist. I was back stage with her at the Grand Ole Opry when Little Jimmy Dickens came up to her and said, 'I know you, you're Shari Lynn!' It just seemed like everywhere we went people were drawn to her. There was another time during Fan Fair, we were standing on Broadway downtown Nashville with her friend Jason McCoy (now with The Road Hammers) and I recall him saying to her, 'If I had a dollar for every person that came up to you, I would be rich!' I was also at her show when she opened for Jason McCoy as herself and a fan had shown up with his brand new Chevy truck with his windows tinted with her pictures on them and his licence plate said 'SHRILNFN'."Currently, Shari has been working hard on her debut album that is scheduled to be released in 2008. Her debut album in which took her 3 years to develop, was influenced by her past relationship experiences. "I've lived through an emotional roller coaster when it comes to relationships and I wished that I had songs to help me cope with leaving the situation instead of hanging on and putting myself through hell! Through long trial and error it all worked out for me and that inspired me to sing about it. I think alot of woman and men will relate to the music. Just thinking back to those days, brings out that emotion all over again, only this time in a positive manner through the songs I sing. I'm much more confident now and hope my songs will help others to be more confident." explains Shari.
Shari comments on some sacrifices she's had to make, "It's not easy trying to make it in the music industry and sometimes you have to make sacrifices. I had a good paying day job, however if I was going to try to make it in the music business, music had to be my full time gig, so I gave up my day job and moved into a garage for almost 3 years so I could invest the money I made back into the music with trips to Nashville, top notch equipment, demos etc.. I froze in the winters and lived off of pasta (as it's cheap) and looked forward to being on the road as much as possible! It can be a little scary and it's always hard to know if you are making the right decisions. However recently I was working with some of Brad Paisley's musicians in the studio, and Doug Paisley (Brad's father) told me he had recognized me and had heard good things about me. He said he had remembered having a long conversation about me awhile back. He told me he wanted to come to see my show once the CD is finished and I start touring. When he said that to me, it made me feel like I'm on the right path."
Shari has been working on her songwriting, and In October 2007, Shari went to Nashville to co-write with songwriter, Jane Bach who's written hits for Jo Dee Messina (Dare To Dream), Reba McIntire (Last One To Know) as well as 'You Don't Know Jack', (Shari Lynn). Recently a song they co-wrote "Hip To Be Hick' , in December 2007, has drawn attention from Blake Chancey (producer for the Dixie Chicks and Kellie Pickler). Pickler (American Idol contestant) has shown interest in the song for her upcoming album.)
Shari Lynn has recently teamed up with Anya Wilson of Anya Wilson Promotion and Publicity and looks forward to 2008 as being her breakthrough year! For more information on Shari Lynn, please contact Anya Wilson in Toronto at 416-977-7704.
