About Me

aI am a artist by genes! Artisty in one form or another flows through my bloodline. While few are considered "professional" it has always been a part of our family. My grandfather played the guitar, my uncle is an abstract artist (although still life doesn't evade him), my brother is the still life artist, my father photographer and amazing talent for drawing people, my mother more of a cartoonist, my sister is the quilter, as well as my grandmother and great aunt, and then there is me. I am the dabbler. I got a little bit of it all in me. I also love being self taught and having that light bulb moment when you figure out how to make something even when you don't have a pattern or directions. When you can look as something and see the parts or steps it took to get the finished product, deconstructing it in your mind and then building one yourself.I have a lot of crafts and aristry I would still love to learn, and a few I'd love to master.Currently, I'd really love to learn Stained Glass construction and eventually have a workshop full of power tools to really dig into my creative side.As a Theatre Major in college, I had a LOT of backstage work building props, set design, set construction, set dressing. Although I still love being on stage, there is great satisfaction seeing something you made on stage. My greatest accomplishment there, in my opinion, would be the 2 sphinx I carved out of styrofoam for the base of a pyramid. I think I still could find foam balls in some of my clothing!

My Interests

Painting, Drawing, Literature, Music, Sewing, Quilting, Crochet, Museums, Theatre, Dance.....

I'd like to meet:

ANYONE who is artistic or crafty, and especially those who are willing to share the expertise!

Music:

I have a very eclectic taste in music. Classical, Alternative, Underground, Classic Rock, Pop, etc.

Movies:

Hands down my all time favorite movie is "Almost Famous" but I can probably throw a ton of titles in there for various reasons.

Television:

Any and all things crafty or artistry related. But for mainstream programing, I admit it I am a sucker for LOST and HEROES.

Books:

Books have to grab my attention within the first 2 chapters usually, if an author takes too long to get to the point, I lose interest. One of my favorite books is "Death Be Not Proud" and "The Poisonwood Bible".

Heroes:

A Hero to me is any person who has a calling to do something, and follows that calling. No matter how big or little that "something" is, that they give it their all because they love what they do. Especially those who are impacting the lives of children and giving them hopes for a future. :)
