is it me, or am I turning into an old english sheepdog?

About Me

I HATE THESE THINGS. My mind goes blank. I live with interesting people, can I tell you about them instead? One of them is actually a real live adult, even. Ah well, here you go. me. I live in Birmingham. I chose to live in Birmingham, which probably tells you as much as you need to know. :) I work with children and I like my job, but the money's marginallybetterthanmacdonalds - and only marginally; that's my excuse for the jewellery and I'm sticking to it! The fact that I just like making stuff has nothing to do with it at all, oh no.
I like words; pictures, photography and design and all that jazz; looking at and doing; though at the moment I'm fairly taken up with other things. Did Art & Design at uni and also modern languages but due to my far-too-low-boredom-threshold I didn't stay the course for the languages, and I was too poor to stay for the art, which I regret to this day.
I spend, far, far too much time on buses and I'd like to start a campaign for serious public humiliation for those really, really annoying kids who play really, really annoying tinny music on their stupid mobile phones which is unidentifiable anyway because the tiny speakers are so completely useless. gah. Spoiling my bus ride. I offered to lend some kids on a train my headphones once, but I'm rarely that brave. Besides, they might take me up on it.
I like books and food and talking too much and my bike when neither it not my knee is too broekn for me to ride... and my ipod so I don't have to listen to thekidsonthebuseswithphones and good red wine and gin and tonic. And beer. Brie. Olives. This makes me sound like a greedy person with a drink problem, doesn't it? I'd love to go out more, and I'd love to spend less time on buses.
I like very small hammers, very small anvils and very small, very hot, torches. Files (also very small). Miniature drill-bits and needle nose pliers. I make stuff. Well, I do lots of other stuff, too, but there you go.
some of it is actually quite nice, if I say so myself, if you like pretty sparkly stuff, or occasionally grown-up understated stuff, jewellery kind of stuff.
I don't make anything like as much of it as I would like because I don't have the time, which is very sad, I do sell it all; mostly on ebay and etsy. I love ebay; the way you get what people think something is worth. And if only one person likes it, they get lucky, but if more than one does you get to find out exactly how much people do like your stuff... and I would like to have the time to make more of it, to save me from the buses and the ninetofive. well, 8.30-to-slightly-random-times-of-day, but that kind of thing.
I get a huuuge kick out of the fact that there are people on different continents who are wearing and enjoying things that I made. It's magic.
I TAKE COMMISSIONS!! ... and there are loads more pictures under the "pics" link.
duckduckGoose stuff
this is the kind of stuff: note to self: it is possible to overuse the word "stuff."
They're actually bracelets and significantly smaller than they look...
(and if you're even vaguely interested, ebay stuff is available HERE (click it) and etsy sales are HERE (click this one, too) ...

My Interests

Overheard On A Saltmarsh

Nymph, nymph, what are your beads?

Green glass, goblin. Why do you stare at them?

Give them me.

No.

Give them me. Give them me.

No.

Then I will howl all night in the reeds,
Lie in the mud and howl for them.

Goblin, why do you love them so?

They are better than stars or water,
Better than voices of winds that sing,
Better than any man's fair daughter,
Your green glass beads on a silver ring.

Hush, I stole them out of the moon.

Give me your beads, I desire them.

No.

I will howl in a deep lagoon,
For your green glass beads, I love them so.
Give them me. Give them.

No.

Music:

loads of things. Most of it embarrassing ;) ...at the moment all I can think of is Radiohead. And the Specials. and Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Catatonia. Georges Brassens. Charlie Daniels, Hayseed Dixie, Black Sabbath. The Cowboy Junkies. Buck 65 and Kid Koala, though I don't even own any of their records I do get to listen to a lot of them (thanks H). Which reminds me, PCM. Mylene Farmer. Amy Winehouse. Tom Waits. The Pogues. shed loads more things I can't be bothered to remember at the moment. Bob Dylan. The Dead Kennedies. The Who. Louis Armstrong. Duke Wellington. Black Uhuru. Country Joe Macdonald and the Fish. Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Herb Alpert. Can I stop now? Martha Wainwright. Kate Rusby. Joni Mitchell, in small doses. Janice Joplin. Billie Holliday. John Cale, Leonard Cohen, Kirsty MacColl. The Pretenders. The Automatic. Blondie. Laura Cantrell. Macy Gray. Bob Marley and the Wailers. Renaud. several thousand records that make me go, oh yeah, I really like this, what is it again? I'm sure I've got it somewhere. Led Zep. can I take this opportunity to say not hawkwind? Motorhead. Francoise Hardy. Flook. Boomtown Rats. Dr Feelgood. Franz Ferdinand. Cerys Matthews. Agent Ribbons.
