About Me

Documentary film and video maker and nomad, sometimes also a journalist, writer and translator. Have lived/studied/worked in Australia, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Germany, Czech Republic, France and UK. My current project is a documentary film called "Harare No Questions", the story of the city of Harare, Zimbabwe. Here it is... the thing by which we are most judged... our taste... OK, let me list some of the artists in my current playlist... Zani Diabate, Thomas Mapfumo, Chiwoniso Maraire, Farid Al-Atrache, Too Open, Iggy Pop, K'naan, Brice Wassy (saw an amazing live gig recently with Afrika Mkhize on piano), Franco, Gigi, Eddie Palmieri, Omar Pene, The Four Brothers, Coltrane, Mingus, Zolfonoon and lots more... too many to list.

Movies:

Antonioni, Chris Marker, Raul Ruiz, Buster Keaton, Jerry Lewis, Edward Yang, Abderahmane Sissako, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Souleymane Cisse, Angelopoulos, Georgi Danelia, Dardenne Brothers, Godard, Jafar Panahi, Chantal Akerman, Coline Serreau, Jackie Chan, Frederick Wiseman etc. Mainly like watching comedies and documentaries.

Television:

Mainly watch comedies on TV: The Simpsons, Futurama, Malcolm in the Middle, My Name is Earl, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc. Been enjoying The Peep Show lately. The old comedies are also good: Get Smart, Jack Benny, etc.

Books:
