Parissa & Dastan Ensemble

About Me

Parissa is an outstanding vocalist of Classical Persian music. She studied Classical Persian Song at the Conservatory under the great master Mahmoud Karimi. In 1970 she joined the National Broadcasting Ensemble in Iran and in '73 started touring and later teaching. Following the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Parissa stopped performing in publicity and began intensive study of the sources of classical music, writing, publishing and training young singers at her home. After fifteen years of silence, she gave a memorable series of concerts in Europe in 1995. Since 2002 she has been working with the Dastan Ensemble which is one of the leading ensembles of classical music. Founded in Europe in 1991 by Hamid Motebassem, Dastan soon made a name as the ensemble accompanying famous Iranian singers. Parissa and Ensemble Dastan gave highly acclaimed sell-out tours throughout Europe. All the musicians are sought-after soloists in their own right who have made countless recordings.
