About Me

if i closed my eyes and made a wish these are a few things in my day i would change: when i wake up in the morning i would be able to enjoy that warm cosy feeling for as long as i wanted without worrying about having to get up. when flying out my door hurridly pulling on my my shoes, coat, scarf and ipod i would not have to sprint half way to the train station like a crazed madwoman because there would always be a train running a minute late. everyone would be polite and patient and smile a lot. central heating would not dehydrate me and make my fingers bloat. i would develop incredible powers of observation and see when someone was taking me for a ride. i would stop worrying about the size of my thighs. my memory would be second to none and gone would those moments when i realise that i've left my keys/mobile/ phone charger all the way at the other end of the universe and am shortly about to internallly combust. oh yeah and world peace would be good. that's all.

Music:

love all types of music, love going to live gigs and hearing new stuff...am really impressed by bands who can incorporate socially/politically cutting lyrics with general musicality. i have great love for tracy chapman.

Movies:

want to see more independent films becoming more available, will watch anything by almodovar but on occassion really enjoy a romantic comedy...

Television:

whatever's on when i'm home and bored, was recently enjoying x-factor and am quite excited about desperate housewives returning, but generally prefer watching films to tv.

Books:

toni morrison 'the bluest eye' is my all time favourite but others include alice walker, isabel allende, laura esquivel 'like water for chocolate', dambudzo marechera for a modern and african version of joyce and good dose of existentialism, jack kerouac and anything BEAT, john steinbeck for all his wisdom. the best book i've read this year has to be 'vernon god little' by DBC pierre. i am generally never far from a book.

Heroes:

well ok captain planet is hard to top, but this year my hero has to be that lovely, dancing penguin from happy feet. just too cute. of course in reality my heroes are my best friend tanya and my gorgeous brothers.
