I have hobbies now! Woo HOO: I knit. There. I finally have an answer for these kinds of questions. I also plant things in the ground around my house. And water them. Oh yes, and I heart riding scooters.
Interesting folks. Good spellers (or at least know you're a bad speller.) People who've traveled the world, but don't tell you about it within the first five minutes of meeting them. Funny people. Smart people. Nice people. People with a famous aunt or uncle. Writers, musicians, artists who aren't incapable of social interaction (No offense, but I'll just rub you the wrong way and you'll make me feel strangely inadequate.)

I like virtuosos. Songwriters, musicians, singers who just boss it around. I like music that either 1) mirrors EXACTLY what you feel, or 2) makes you feel like doing/being something else entirely. I love Patty Griffin, Bonnie Raitt, The Detroit Cobras, Stones, "old" Eminem. (Not an exhaustive list, by any means.) I love the comp cds Lee and my friend Jhene make for me. I like good, crunchy rock n' roll. I love some country. (I hate the rest.) I love the guilty pleasure of some pop. (I hate the rest.)
I love movies and popcorn.
Favorites: Aliens, Donnie Darko, The Color Purple, The Matrix, The Triplets of Belleville, Strictly Ballroom, The Last Unicorn, Krull, The Trouble with Angels, and others, so many others... oh my god, look what I found:
I've let this go out of check for far too long. Yes, Law & Order SVU used to be my addiction. But no more. They tried to have character arcs and that ruined EVERYTHING. CSI: Las Vegas is still a fave, but I never watch it (?!) My TiVO points to House, Grey's Anatomy, Damages, and The Family Guy (when Lee controls the remote. I no longer protest. That shoo is funny.) Other shows I love or miss: The Joy of Painting, Antiques Roadshow, Arrested Development, and Firefly. I wish Top Chef was still good, but it's not. And I love catching Project Runway in a marathon. Ooooh. Chill bumps. Also - yes - Iron Chef America. Sue me.
Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road.' Anything by Anne Lamott, Mark Haddon's 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,' Dr. Seuss' 'If I Ran the Circus.'
Ellen Lauren; all smart, sensitive, brave women like The Dixie Chicks (if you snort when you read that, you just don't know better); Dorothy and Manuel Lopez, Jo Nell Mitchell, my various parents... in fact, like my cousin Sammee says about her heroes, "My family."
