The Brits Invaded Our Music. We Return the Favor.

About Me

Christian Myspace Layouts - MySpace Editor Christian Myspace Layouts PLACE AMERICAN INVASION IN YOUR "FAB FOUR!" Make sure when you add AI to your friends list that you move Doc and Kelly to your top row. After all, they are invading British music, returning the favor of... The Fab Four -- The Beatles!ONE BOLD STEP FOR ROCK'N'ROLL. RUN WITH THIS. ROCK WITH THIS.Rock'n'Roll has always been anti-establishment. There's no doubt about that. But, if rock'n'roll is to take that claim to the next level it must begin a movement to have American Invasion -- rock's greatest underground legends -- inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. How do we make it happen? It's easy. In interviews and liner notes, list American Invasion as one of your great influences. Build up Doc Americana and Kelly - Queen of Chords. Word of mouth is a powerful tool - almost as powerful as rock'n'roll itself.Rock the music industry. Rock the world. Let's put a little more anti-establishment in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame by including its great underground icons... American Invasion.ABOUT AIThe British invaded the U.S. with a sound that remains among the most popular on American radio today. Around 1994, a band led by an American vocalist with a British accent intended to invade the British back... leading the American Invasion. The lyrical mastery of Doc Americana merged with the quintessential accoustic guitar stylings of Kelly - Queen of Chords to form what one music aficionado called the Simon and Garfunkel of the '90s.Doc's lyrics are entirely clever. Take this monetary wordplay from "If I Can't Have You": "They say a penny saved is a penny earned, but a penny isn't worth a dime if I can't have you."In "24-7," Doc tips the cap to The Beatles' "Eight Days A Week" with the lines "24 hours times seven. 24-7 is fate. 24-7 is heaven. 24-7 or 8."A line from the AI tune "Gwen Stefani" shows Doc's ability to mix lyrical whimsy and musical genius: "Gwen Stefani sings a little tune and everybody skanks. When you meet the maker of Gwen, be sure to tell Him 'Thanks.'" AI even pokes fun at itself with lyrics like those found in "Kinda Dreamy."AI was strongly influenced by bands like Herman's Hermits, The Association ("Zelmarelda" is a tip of the cap to "Windy"), The Beatles, The Vogues, The Zombies, The Kinks, and fellow West Michigan legends The Overtones. AI was also strongly inspired by other duets like ... The Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, and the great Mitch and Mickey. In "Zelmerelda" there is also a tip of the cap to The Byrds. "The plants grow faster when she's near. The Byrds send music to her ear." This is similar to The Eagles' tip of the cap to Steely Dan in "Hotel California" ("They stab it with their Steely knives...").AI utilized a unique writing style. Sometimes Kelly provided Doc with music and the lyricist added the now legendary words. In other instances, Doc dealt Kelly the lyrics and The Queen added her perfectly placed notes to create musical history.Only musicians, industry insiders, groupies, and friends of the day's great musicians have enjoyed their work through demo tapes that flooded the underground in the nineties. Now that changes. This is your chance to savor the hard-to-find musical majesty that is AI.
