About Me

You can either spend your life living vicariously through others, or you can walk the creative plank. You can hide behind championing other peoples' talents, or you can dare to shout about your own.Having spent my career revelling in the fine music of others as a radio DJ, I finally plucked up the courage to pick up the guitar and start writing and gigging in early 2001. Spurred on I suppose by the end of a disasterous relationship with a struggling rock star, it was the final realisation that perhaps it was time to be the singer/songwriter I secretly always knew I was. If that makes any sense then great! If not: listen to my songs. They're me, they're mine, but gigs so far have confirmed to me that I tell other peoples' tales too. And tales that aren't given much of a platform in my mind. 21 year old beautiful female singer songwriters are all well and good - but can we hear a bit more from people who've lived, loved and thought a little more!?I believe in great pop ( as well as taking influence from a multitude of other genres), and my goal is to try to write songs that have that "ohhhhh" factor: when your heart swoops or your skin tingles - from a word, a phrase, a chord change. Or perhaps all of that and more. Im a perfectionist, I set my sights high (hence not even bothering to expose my recordings to anyone other than close friends until now!). These songs on myspace are the fruits of some recording sessions with the wonderfully talented Anthony Galatis.....and there will more! What do I want? - to write and play and sing obviously....have throngs of adoring fans, but I'd also love my compositions to be performed by other artists - I love that there are an infinite number of ways to interpret just one little song.....who knows....maybe Kylie, or Girls Aloud will find my page.....In the meantime, I'll spread the word any which way I can - here at myspace, doing more gigs. I've played many times at the 12bar, The Half Moon, the Barfly and the Bedford in London to name but four.

This extraordinary, U.K.-based pop/jazz performer dazzles with keenly captivating vocals and fabulous original material. "The Story of Us" enthralls with compelling lyrics over a hip-hop beat. Lloyd's "Breathe" elegantly encapsulates a moment of transcendent passion. There's a wonderful wistfulness about "Three Minute Warning."

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: wendylloyd.com
Band Members: Wendy Lloyd - guitar and vocals. I write all the words and music. Since Jan 2007 I have been playing live with Roger Askew on guitar and piano and Olly Blanchflower on Double Bass
Influences: Everything I ever listened to since my parents finally let me use the "stereo" aged seven (pester power had been at full throttle for a good year) and I could rifle though my older brother's and sisters' comprehensive record collections. Production wise my Producer Anthony Galatis is finding a divine David gray-esque contemporary acoustic feel for stuff, but having fronted a jazz band and sung standards throughout last year, I'm keen to introduce some jazz sassyness to the pot. I'm a music sponge through and through, so others would probably identify my influences better than I would. But great classy sophisticated moody pop is a good way to at least describe where Im heading. Where I've been? Musically? Pretty much everywhere....
