About Me
Janet has the pleasure and honor of being compared to Alison Kraus and Emmylou Harris. Janet has been introduced as a “purist.†As “the little girl who can make the hair on the back of your neck stand and draw a grown man to tears.†Janet grew up in rural Southern Indiana with an extended family of musicians. Janet’s father is an amazing guitarist with whom she’d learned to appreciate the beauty of the acoustic sound. She was raised listening to Vince Gil, Patty Lovelace, Steve Warner, Travis Tritt, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Nickel Creek, James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, Sarah McLachlan, just to mention a few.
Janet started singing as a small child and asked for her first guitar at age 13. Janet started taking lessons from Jeff Guernsey, a master of the fiddle and a guitarist, who played with Steve Warner and Vince Gil. Janet has been doing live performances since age 16, at first with her dad as a guitar accompanist and harmony vocals. Playing at local venues and restaurants then graduating to local festivals and events throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She has entered local talent search contest, such as Nashville Star at Indianapolis in 2006 finishing in the top 24 and the Colgate Country Showdown in Indiana and Kentucky. Janet along with her band won the WAMZ Colgate Country Showdown at Louisville, KY in 2007, opening for Joe Nichols. She’s performed at the Eureka Springs Bluegrass Festival in Arkansas with her dad and the Ronnie Reno band. Along with Janet’s vocal talent she has discovered a interest in writing her own songs and music, performing several of these at her performances.
As Janet’s popularity grows so does her band, adding Chip Bush on Mandolin, Richard Denison on Bass, Ivan Guernsey on Resonator guitar, and Rick Jackson on drums who also is a BMI songwriter. Janet, at age 20, has been fortunate in compiling an amazing group of musicians with very tight harmony vocals. Thus, adding to her unique sound of mixing country/bluegrass/folk

*Greatest music experience thus far - I will never forget when I was around 15 and I went to Little Nashville, IN to go to a Josh Turner concert.
