Carrie Ann and the Apocalyptics

About Me

"the Apocalyptics' material is a delicate blend of country, folk and Celtic rhythms. It's anchored by thoughtful songwriting and unforced, sincere vocals." Joey Guerra - Houston Chronicle, Feb. 9, 2006The Apocalyptics were formed in July of 2004, and since then have had a great deal of fun making music. They have had the honor of opening up for legendary musicians like Billy Joe Shaver and have lent their time and talents to worthy causes like the Fifth Wards Progressive Amateur Boxing Association and the Houston Womens Center. Carrie Ann does most of the groups song writing. Her style reflects her varied influences...growing up in the mid-West, learning to play music in church, being married to Houstons own roots rocker Opie Hendrix, being a mother. Its hard to pin a style on this group or Buchanans writing, but eclectic and truthful come to mind. The cover songs they do are interesting and unexpected; everything from Black Sabbath to Leonard Cohen, from Black Oak Arkansas to Dolly Parton.Jimb Jackson is a member of Houstons Beans Barton and the Bi-Peds and brings a wealth of creativity, experience and knowledge to the group. Jimb Jackson is one of those rare gems in the music world, amazingly talented and yet modest and subtle. Gary Clark is a member of the recently rejuvenated Lipps and the Trips. His haunting dobro is a perfect flavor to compliment this bands unique sound. They have received radio attention and have been featured live on KPFTs 24 PM, Pat and Rosies Night Sounds, H.A.A.M Radio and Reach Out in The Darkness. They enjoy a weekly gig at Dan Electros Guitar Bar, Thursday nights 7:30 - 9:30 and a monthly show at The Last Concert Caf, the third Sunday of every month, warming up the stage for Fahl & Folk. You can catch Carrie Ann solo every first Saturday of the Month at the Yale Street Market on 19th Street in the Heights. They have shared the stage with great acts such as Opie Hendrix and the Texas Tallboys, The Grassy Knoll Boys, Billy Joe Shaver, Steel String Theory, The Packway Handle Band, PJ Flowers, Carolyn Wonderland, and the Sisters Morales I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4src="http://www.myspacesupport.com/images/button.gif" border="0" alt="MySpace Layouts" /
