Firstly, apologies that the audio is rather dated...shall endeavour to do something about this shortly!
I grew up in South Wales and moved to London to study music at City University, and later the postgraduate jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Around this time I was co-running the band ‘After Breakfast’ with drummer Federico Ughi. The band enjoyed a Jazz Services funded tour in the UK and a tour in Italy. In 1998 I played on Federico’s album ‘The Space Within’, featuring alongside Steve Buckley and Matthew Morris. I also performed with a variety of line-ups, including the Crissy Lee Orchestra, Caroline Kraabel’s Mass Producers, Forty Feet Forward, Polar Bear in its early incarnation, and my own quartet and duos. After an extensive sabbatical during which I completed (and put to good use!) a pgce, I’ve picked up the saxophone again, and have more recently played with the London Swingfonia, Mark Jennett, my own quartet and duos in a variety of contexts. I will be an assistant tutor on the Glamorgan Jazz Summer School this year (2007) for the third year running and will also be pursuing a masters in jazz at Trinity College of music next year. In the meantime I am working on my own compositions, performing and looking to hook up with old and new musician friends for plays and gigs.
"In between there are two episodes - in our opinion the most successful in the album - where Rachel Musson's tenor saxophones raises her heartfelt chant on John Lewis wonderful melody "Django"; in "Remember" Ughi stands aside and Musson has the chance to create a solo of sore formal poise. "
