E17Jazz December Gigs
This season at e17 jazz is drawing to a close with some great music!
Naadia Sheriff Band
Thursday 3rd December, 8pm, £5
The Rose and Crown, 55 Hoe St, E17 4SA
Piano led quartet playing sharply crafted compositions and featuring award winning saxophonist Tori Freestone, as well as Julie Walkington on double bass, and Nick Smalley on drums. The Times described Naadia as a “Dazzling Pianist”.
Brigitte Bereha's Babel Fish
Thursday 10th December, 8pm, £5
The Plough, 173 Wood St, E17 3NU
New project co-led by pianist Barry Green and Brigitte Beraha, featuring double bass and percussion legends Chris Lawrence and Paul Clarvis. The project, due to be recorded in the first half of 2010, is a jazz project with classical, world and folk elements, which allows room for collective improvisation and the unexpected. There will be originals by Brigitte and Barry, as well as fresh takes on jazz standards and renditions on some other gems like one of Britten's beautiful folk arrangements.
