“if there is a magic on this planet, it is contained in water”~ loren eisley

About Me

i am a passionate woman, and tend to get deeply involved with the people and things that interest me. i love paddling in the pacific ocean, trail running & hiking on my local trails, the eastern sierras, northern arizona during the monsoon season, spicy food and strong coffee. normally i keep the poet under wraps, but insomnia has forced the public disclosure of my mammalian brain...

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

people who will inspire me, and help me celebrate my romance with the world~ good storytellers, artists, dorks, paddlers who will help me conquer my fear of the surf zone, trail running companions and other local hikers, belly dance aficionados, and people who love rocks and dirt, and thorns with their roses...i am healing from bilateral thumb tenosynovitis ("trigger finger"), and am limiting computer time, so if i add you as a friend, please understand if i do not regularly leave comments on your page or blog:)

Music:

lucinda williams, jack johnson, the talking heads, old bryan ferry & roxy music, joni mitchell, the dave mathews band, pink martini, early 10,000 maniacs~ it's always evolving~ and then there's the weird music i sometimes listen to when running;)

Movies:

i love indie films and documentaries. all time favorite movies include: the piano, touching the void, and rivers and tides.

Television:

six feet under on dvd, surfing and poets on the local cable channel, and the weather channel:)i sometimes check out pbs or the discovery channel, but honestly, i don't pay attention to what's on when, so i end up watching very little tv

Books:

one hundred years of solitude, ceremony, slaughterhouse five, women and nature, a natural history of the senses, island of the blue dolphins ~ currently enjoying the audio version of the botany of desire by micheal pollan, and "writing and enjoying haiku; a hands-on guide" by jane reichhold. i also love children's literature.

Heroes:

ordinary people who are kind & brave-hearted, and who rise to the challenge of finding beauty and meaning in their everyday lives; mary breckinridge, nurse midwife and founder of the frontier nursing service; woody guthrie; and barbarella!!!
