The band Storm Bringer started in the early 80’s with some changes of personnel over time. The final line up was five people putting together an interesting array of interests and genre that formed the sound of the band. The interest was from classical music to hard rock with a spattering of styles in-between such as jazz, reggae, southern rock, and dance music.
The band recorded some of the songs in a small studio in the north end of Columbus Ohio where it started tuning its sound. This is where it was determined that not everyone was going to be in the next session at the studio.
With a new drummer, the band started writing more music and then picked up a singer who would record only two songs. Using a Tascam 8-track recorder You Can’t Go Wrong and Rock for You was recorded and mixed down to a raw 2 track cassette.
Again having to picking up a new singer new songs were written and the working at getting the material ready for an album out was the direction of the band. The band also wanted to start playing dates where their sound could be heard as well as talking about management and a recording contract.
The band played at a rock wars in Columbus where they met and talked with J. D. Blackfoot where we decided to record in his studio, Bison (shortly after starting the sessions the studio was renamed Sisapa) where yet another drummer was pulled in and losing one guitarist. Now the five members were together with the news that we had two labels interested in a recording contract.
With some more of the material recorded and heading for playing some dates and a national concert tour as an opening act for a known act, the band had internal issues that blew it apart. The band never finished recording the songs nor were any of the songs ever mixed for release.
The songs that are here for you to listen to have the raw studio cuts with no producer or engineer ever touching any of them for mixing other than taking them down to two tracks. The master tape has long since been destroyed or reused by the studio so to mix them and put them out would mean recording them again.
The songs will someday be recorded again and possibly released which I am working on putting something together now, however, until then I hope that you can hear what they were supposed to be and you might appreciate the sound of the band that almost was.
