Former Philadelphia native, Aja Kim, has recorded and/or performed on stage with a diverse roster of world class musicians and artists (both as a vocalist and as a songwriter) which include saxophonist Clarence Clemons (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), Bruce Conte (Tower of Power), Motorhead, Carlos Guitarlos (Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs), bassist/vocalist Marco Mendoza (Soul Sirkus, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Thin Lizzy) drummer Joey Heredia (Tribal Tech), Burleigh Drummond (Ambrosia) and Argentinian rock band, Vilma Palma, just to name a few - and her original band has opened for the patriarch of percussion, Pete Escovedo, among others.
A black belt in the martial art of Shotokan karate, her athletic prowess stands her in good stead when she takes on the role of Bruce ‘Lee’ Chickinson. As the lead vocalist for the wildly popular ‘World’s Only Female Tribute’ to Iron Maiden – The Iron Maidens - she has amazed audiences around the world with her powerful voice and electrifying stage performances. The Iron Maidens have recently released a critically acclaimed full-length tribute CD with cover art by Derek Riggs, the creator of beloved Iron Maiden mascot, Eddie. They have just finished recording 4 songs with Grammy award winning producer, Bob Kulick for their follow up CD/Live DVD for Powerslave Records as well as shooting a full length MTV style music video to be featured on MTV- Japan.
In addition to releasing a solo CD, Modern Babylon, as well as continually working as a successful freelance vocalist for recording sessions and live performances, her voice has been featured on radio and television commercials and TV theme songs. She’s written songs for the HBO film, Private Wars and the title song for the film No Replay. She is currently writing new material for her 2nd as yet untitled CD as well as writing original material with members of the Iron Maidens.
