About Me

Now playing: 3 feet up
Sometimes it takes great strength to be true to yourself. Pop band 3 feet up often writes songs about that very subject and also personifies the concept. For instance, they have no bass player. What? A band without a bass player? Chris Hardy, the guitarist & vocalist sometimes plays guitar chords that make seasoned jazz players go "Huh?" and wife/drummer Victoria Hardy plays a modest drumkit while standing up.
Most of their songs are positive and supportive of finding one's own personal truths, as well as celebrating differences instead of fearing them. In their new song "Iscoceles Girl", Chris sings the line, "She's an iscoceles girl in an equilateral world." Compare them to most indie bands and you'll see just how different 3 feet up is.
Since their musical inception in April of 2004, 3 feet up has released two CDs, played the legendary Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Massachusetts, appeared on several compilations and they were featured on the CBS Early Show in July 2006. Not to mention the 200+ live shows they've played in their first 3 years, which shows how they are very much "musical workaholics."
Their sound has been compared to Steely Dan, Cake, Dave Matthews, Sting, They Might Be Giants, XTC and even more...
Outside of the musical world, Victoria spends much time being a nationally syndicated writer for the American Chronicle online newspaper as well as other news sources. When not confusing jazz guitarists, Chris works as a woodwind instrument repair technician by day. He enjoys practicing Uechi-ryu karate and watching hockey games.
