The Waddy Wachtel Band was originally formed in Los Angeles by Waddy Wachtel, Jack Tempchin, Phil Jones and Rick Rosas in 2000. They were all well-respected and polished musicians who decided to put together their talents and offer up their own renditions of Classic Rock songs for small audiences at a club called the Joint on Monday nights. The band originally had no name, which was appropriate as no one knew which special guests might show up to gig with them on a Monday night. As word spread that not only could you go see these guys every Monday night at the Joint (when they weren't off touring or in the studio recording) but many of their friends (some famous and equally talented performers) would show up unexpectedly. The Joint got filled with an audience of appreciative fans who returned regularly on Mondays.
When Jack Tempchin took his leave in 2003, Waddy Wachtel continued the Monday night shows with the rest of the band and added other performers on a regular basis over the years. In 2006, as people kept asking what was the name of this fantastic band, it was agreed to call it the Waddy Wachtel Band, since Waddy was such an integral part of keeping the shows going, planning the set list, offering up new songs, etc.
Don't expect to see the Waddy Wachtel Band touring as a unit, and don't look for a newly released CD by the band. Although each member of the band tours with other performers and is featured on many CDs by other artists, WWB is a special live treat only available to those who come to the Joint when they're performing. Check the calendar on this page for their upcoming gigs.
The Joint is located at 8771 W. Pico Blvd (at Robertson), Los Angeles 310-275-2619.
Here's some more info about each of the members of the Waddy Wachtel Band..................
WADDY WACHTEL is one of the most well-known and respected performers in the music industry. His career as a guitarist, producer and song-writer has spanned many years, and to list all of his credits here would fill the whole page. From his early beginnings in the L.A. music scene playing with such artists as the Everly Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newman, Don Henley and Jackson Browne - to his most recent work as musical director, lead guitarist and vocalist for Stevie Nicks on tour, he's ventured into such creative fields as composing his own songs and writing musical scores for movies.
Waddy's connection to the Rolling Stones:
Wachtel's first Stones connection was with Ronnie Wood. Wachtel contributed to Ronnie's fourth solo LP, 1 2 3 4, recorded in L.A. and released in 1981. Subsequently Wachtel became an X-Pensive Wino when Keith stole him away for his first solo album and tour in 1988. Wachtel was still there for the 1992 album and tour, this time co-composing many of the tracks on the album.
"So I started to put a band together... Steve (Jordan) looks at me and says, Who do you want to play with? I said, Guitar? Waddy Wachtel. And he goes to me, My very words. I'd known Waddy since the middle 70s, and I've always liked his stuff. But I always recognized him as a man left alone out there running a chick's band. And I knew this man wants to rock more desperately than he's allowed to. (Laughs.) He's doing Linda Ronstadt, then he's doing Stevie Nicks, and I know my man wants to rock. Waddy and I have always had that empathy, and he understands my music. I don't have to explain anything to Waddy. I say, It goes like this, and everybody else would say, Well, that's weird. But Waddy goes, Oh, that's interesting." -Keith Richards, 1992
Wachtel did not participate in any Stones sessions during those years but he has played extensively since on the Bridges to Babylon album. Wachtel played guitar, acoustic and electric, on more than a good half of the album's tracks, becoming the most heavily used guitar player on a Stones album, outside of the Stones, since Wayne Perkins and Harvey Mandel in the days of Black and Blue (1976).

BRETT TUGGLE has been rocking the music world since he first started banging out Beatles and Beach Boys songs on his family's piano as a kid. He went on to play keyboards as a sideman for quite a bevy of various artists including Steppenwolf, David Lee Roth, Coverdale/Page, Rick Springfield, Chris Isaak, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Brett is also a great vocalist, guitarist and bass player. For more info on Brett, check out these links:

PHIL JONES seems to have been born with drum sticks in his hands - he's that comfortable on his throne beating those drum skins. In Phil's earlier years, he played with a band called Crabby Appleton, knocking off some incredible rock songs. More recently, he played on tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and is featured on drums and percussion on Tom Petty's album "Full Moon Fever." Phil is also on records by The Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and many others. You can learn more about Phil by visiting his web site:

RICK ROSAS , aka Rick "The Bass Player" Rosas, stands off-handedly in the background with a warm grin while plucking away at those bass strings like a master. His talent has been recognized by performers who have been happy to get him to gig with them, such as Neil Young and Joe Walsh. Find out more about Rick by visiting his web site:

JAMIE SAVKO probably started singing before he learned to walk or talk - his voice is that clear and vivid. Jamie is the newest member of the Waddy Wachtel Band, having been recruited by Waddy at a gig he went to in October 2006. He was a great addition to the band, as Jamie's trained voice can easily sing any song Waddy requests. Jamie has recorded with various artists, and his future as a vocalist looks bright.

KEITH ALLISON has appeared regularly with the band for many years, playing guitar and singing songs by Eddie Cochran, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, etc.. Keith is best known for being a member of Paul Revere and the Raiders and starring in Dick Clark's "Where the Action Is" , but he's played with many other artists over the years, appeared in a few movies and written sound tracks. Not only is he a great singer and guitarist, but he wails on harmonica.

AL ORTIZ met Waddy Wachtel and Brett Tuggle while playing bass with Stevie Nicks. Al has been sitting in on bass with the Waddy Wachtel Band, and has an uncanny ability to blend right in with them and add lots of punch to the gigs. Having been raised around music, Al plays a variety of instruments, sings and composes. He's worked with many local bands in his home town of Phoenix, where he met up with Stevie and became a regular on her tours beginning in 1998. He's also toured with other artists, including Sister Sledge.
--------------
BERNARD FOWLER has also appeared regularly with the band when he's not on tour as a background singer with the Rolling Stones. An incredibly talented vocalist, Bernard has recently released his own CD "Friends With Privileges", which includes his own compositions, some Rolling Stones songs and joint compositions with Waddy Wachtel. Visit his web site to learn more about Bernard and his CD:

ANGUS THOMAS is best known for playing bass with Miles Davis and John Mayall, but since his early musical training in Chicago he's been used for session work and touring by quite a variety of artists. His exemplary bass musicianship has inspired many new bass players including Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones bassist), who sought him out as a teacher in Chicago. Angus first played with WWB in 2001 and has been exciting the audiences at the Joint by sitting in with the band on numerous occasions over the years.
-----------------
JASON SINAY has been a respected Los Angeles session guitarist for Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Ivan Neville, and Toot's and the Maytals. He also plays around town with Mike Campbell's band "The Dirty Knobs", but finds time to gig WWB regularly. Jason just finished a new CD that was released in 2007. For further info on his gigs and CD release date check his MySpace page:

STACY MICHELLE PLUNK was a well-known singer in Tennessee before she came to L.A. and joined WWB as vocalist and guitarist for a few years. She has recently toured with Joe Walsh and performed with Jerry Lee Lewis, but she finds time to come back and belt out some songs with the band when she's in town. Stacy not only has a great rock voice and plays a mean rhythm guitar, but her stage presence and beauty heats up the whole place. A true woman of rock!

BLONDIE CHAPLIN had connected with other members of the Waddy Wachtel Band during his music career in the U.S. after Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys brought him in to record and perform with him. Blondie is also a background singer with the Rolling Stones, and eventually came with Bernard to perform with his friends in WWB when he's not on tour. He has released his own CD, and more info about him is available at his web site:

TERRY REID was an integral part of WWB from very early on. Terry had achieved acclaim as a vocalist, guitarist and song writer in his home country of England, and broke the charts in the U.S. with some of his singles. He has a long list of CDs to his name, and has toured throughout the world as an original artist, drawing throngs of people to his concerts. Although Terry has become so involved in his own musical career and touring that he hasn't returned to perform with WWB for a couple of years, he will always have a special place in the hearts of the band and audience. JACK TEMPCHIN originated the idea for the Monday Night performances at the Joint in Los Angeles with Waddy Wachtel. Jack played Monday nights with the band for over three years, then decided to not be so actively involved, but he still shows up occasionally to join the band and sing some of the songs he co-wrote like "Already Gone" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (Eagles). To find out more about Jack, check out his web site:

The guys behind the scenes. Special recognition and thanks to those aren't up on the stage, but without whom the gigs couldn't "rock":
Barry Robinson - greeter and doorman. Barry has been manning the door at the Joint on Monday nights for many years, welcoming all the rockers. He also keeps us all posted about upcoming gigs with newsletters.
Neil McDonald - lights and sound. Neil has worked the sound board for WWB on and off for many years, and it's a pleasure to hear the great mixes he produces. It's not an easy task to get those crisp sounds with a band that has so many lead singers and instrument changes, but Neil is definitely up to the task.
John Philbrick - guitar tech. John is Waddy's right-hand man, and keeps all of Waddy's guitars (as well as the guitars of the other players) perfectly tuned and strung. That's a time-consuming job, but John is always right on the spot - he's been a guitar tech on tour for some major artists, and has been assisting Waddy in WWB since they started the Monday night gigs..
Charlie Wood - roadie, driver and general all-around assistant. Charlie not only takes care of all the band's instruments, cords, mics, etc., drives the truck that delivers those precious things, and sets up the stage for the night (with John), but he also keep a close watch on the stage for anything the band might need.
Dave Steele - owner/operator of the Joint. Dave gives so much support to the band and is happy to provide such a fabulous venue. He also can be seen shaking a tambourine or castanets behind the bar when the mood strikes him.
