About Me
Born in Brooklyn, New York & raised in Los Angeles, California, I've been singing ever since I can remember. I got my first record deal at 15 & never looked back. I recorded many albums that you probably never heard of...The Canaries on Bell Records, Genesis on Mercury Records, Mome Rath on Capitol Records, Indigo on Warner Bros. Records, Thieves on Arista Records, Consenting Adults on Dreamland Records & Knickers on Rhino Records.
My bands have performed at The Forum, The Anaheim Convention Center, The Ampitheater at Magic Mountain, The Whisky A Go Go, The Roxy, The Troubador, The Country Club, The Galaxy, Gazzarri's, The Kaleidoscope, The Topanga Corral, The Lighthouse in LA; & The Avalon & The Fillmore in San Francisco. My band, Thieves, also played at The Kauai Resort Hotel. I've had some great times on the Sunset Strip, & saw many bands play live before they were famous.
My bands have toured the US extensively, and have opened for The Yardbirds, The Monkees, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Jefferson Starship, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Young Rascals, The Allman Brothers & Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Co. I sang back up for/with Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, Tanya Tucker, Katey Sagal (Peg Bundy of 'Married With Children'), Suzy Quatro, Exile, Player, Savoy Brown, Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge) & Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman).
I had the privilege of working with gifted song writers & record producers such as Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart (The Monkees), Eric Jacobsen (The Lovin' Spoonful), Mike Chapman (Blondie, Pat Benetar, Tina Turner, Exile, The Knack, Suzi Quatro, Sweet & Smokie), Jay Lewis-Donnellan (Arthur Lee & Love, Player & Gary Wright's Dreamweaver) & Chad Stewart of Chad & Jeremy fame. I also sang on numerous commercial jingles which was fun. I won The Gong Show playing piano & singing The Beatles' 'Oh Darlin'. I was nominated for The Most Valuable Players Awards for Best Female Vocalist, & I won the talent contest at The Palomino in North Hollywood, CA playing guitar & singing 'I'm A Woman'.
One of my favorite jobs was at The Great American Food & Beverage Co. in Santa Monica, California. I was a singing Maitre 'd, & worked with some of the most talented singers & musicians on the planet. Many of them went on to be successful recording artists. Our regular customers included John Lennon, Yoko Ono & Joni Mitchell. A special thanks to Poppy Morgan R.I.P. for giving me the opportunity.
I have traveled throughout the US, Mexico & Europe, & have experienced amazing things along the way. While singing with the house band at The China Trader in Toluca Lake, CA, I met my husband. His name is Jim May & he was the lead guitarist of Legs Diamond, a kick-ass hard rock band. We got married on January 25, 1987 (Super Bowl Sunday!) On June 24, 1989 our son Jimmy was born. He's a great kid & we're very close. Jimmy is a talented rock guitarist, drummer, singer & songwriter. He's currently attending College at MCC in Mesa, Arizona, & is working for Cox Broadcasting as an Audio Utility Engineer. I'm very proud of him.
In 2000 Jim got a job offer he couldn't refuse, so we relocated to Gilbert, Arizona...a suburb of Phoenix. Life is pretty damn good! Jim is the Engineer In Charge of a TV mobile sports broadcasting company. He won an Emmy for the The XIX Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm very proud of him too!
With our frequent flier miles we have traveled to Cancun, Tulum, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, & all over the US , & Hawaii. While sailing in Waikiki, we saw 3 whales just inches from the boat. That was amazing! We plan to have many more adventures together.
We have 3 dogs...a Great Pyrenees, a Siberian Husky/Golden Retriever mix & their daughter...who would be a 'Pyrberian Retrievenees'. They're a handfull, but I love them. When life gets the best of me I head for the ocean, or I drive to the red rocks of Sedona & go off-roading & hiking.
I have been very lucky to make a living doing what I love, & I believe we all have the choice to make each day positive if we put our energy in a positive direction.
