Sthlm Cowboys (pronounced as Stockholm Cowboys)
Sthlm Cowboys is a Swedish rock band that started out in 2001. After a visit in Nashville TN U.S. session guitar-player Frank Liestam decided to get together with a couple of friends from previous music projects back home in Sweden, Totte Wallgren (bass) and Fredrik Dahl..v (Drums), and form a rock band based on his own musical influences, Sthlm Cowboys.
The music was from the beginning a mixture of 50,s & 60,s root music with a little touch of rockabilly combined with high energy performances.
After four years of touring in Sweden, Finland and Estonia, Werner Theunissen (bass) and Benna Sorman (Drums) joined the band in 2005. With this new ..backbone..
Sthlm Cowboys now takes a new turn and the true identity of the band is starting to show.
Sthlm Cowboys 2007 is a muscular and passionate road-tested rock & roll machine still with the roots in the 50,s and 60,s old school rock music but with its own true identity.
In the autumn 2006 Sthlm Cowboys released their first radio single ..Jealous boy.. and a full length album is coming up in 2007.
The originals bite with a powerful snap, the covers become their personal statements, and the playing is first-rate, straight forward, rocking and fun. You better get ready for STHLM COWBOYS..
This is high energy rock n´roll, Swedish style!
Gil Edwards
Gil Edwards was born and raised in Meford Oregon. Music has been Gil's main interest as long as he can remember. As a 9 year old boy he got a real nice blue tick hound from his daddy. He'd been trying to get the old man to buy him a guitar for about a year but money was tight and it didn't look too promising. One night his daddy came home from coon hunting, he asked Gil if he still wanted a guitar. It seems one of his hunting buddies had an old Gibson guitar that he would trade for Gil's hound. Well he missed that old hound dog but he loved his new guitar and the rest is simply history.
Gil’s music has been classified as Alternative Country a music style that has become very popular in the USA. This music is much rougher and more rockin than ordinary country. The popularity of this style of music is largely due to artists like “Steve Earle†and “Son Voltâ€.
Gil's song "Keep On Rollin" was written for Willy G. Davidson & his lovely wife Jeanne Davidson, the song was included on the 100th Anniversary "Tribute To A Legend" Harley Davidson double Cd release. Gil's rockin song "Crotch Rocket" was also included.
