Bryan Holmes was born in Chile in 1981. He studied Philosophy at Universidad de ValparaÃso (UV) and then he graduated in Musical Sciences and Arts at Pontificia Universidad Católica de ValparaÃso (PUCV), studying composition and orchestration with Eduardo Cáceres . In 2007 he started a Master in Music, with Vania Dantas Leite as his thesis advisor, at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) in Brasil, where he was also guest composer of the Electroacoustic Music Studio of the Villa-Lobos Institute. He attended various workshops and masterclasses, among others, with the ARCEMA Ensemble from Paris, the Experimental Music Gruop of Marseille (GMEM) and internationally renowned composers. He has composed works for soloists, chamber, choir, orchestra, tape and mixed electroacoustics, working also with dance, films, theatre, video-art, installations, radio and television. In 2004 his Zona Ãmbula, for guitar, won the first prize at "Darwin Vargas" Composition Competition, held in Viña del Mar. He has got important study and research scholarships in Chile and Brazil, as well as support from government and institutions for his productions. He has conducted the first audition of diverse composers' works for ensemble in prestigious theatres and concert halls in Santiago, ValparaÃso, Viña del Mar and Rio de Janeiro. His scores are published in Barcelona, Spain, by PERIFERIA Seet Music and he has released several recordings in CDs. He was founder member of the Contemporary Music Association of ValparaÃso (AMCOV) and is an active member of the Latin American Network for the Sonic Arts (RedASLA) and the Chilean Electroacoustic Community (CECh) . His works have been performed in numerous festivals and other events in Latin America and Europe.
