About Me

Daniel Schachter nació en Buenos Aires, Argentina en 1953. Compositor e investigador especializado en la acusmática, los medios mixtos y el procesamiento en tiempo real. Es miembro fundador de la RedASLA (Red de Arte Sonoro Latinoamericano). Varias obras suyas han recibido premios y distinciones: Premio de Música de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires 1996/1997; Tribuna Nacional de Música Electroacústica-UNESCO 1994; Tribuna Nacional de Compositores-UNESCO 1987. Ha recibido encargos y presentado sus composiciones y ponencias en diferentes Congresos, Festivales y Ciclos de Conciertos, realizados en Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Uruguay, México, Francia, Inglaterra, Italia, Suecia, Holanda, República Checa, Estados Unidos, Canadá y Australia. Entre éstas se destacan los encargos de composición del INA.GRM-Paris para sus temporadas de conciertos 1996 y 2006, estrenadas en ambos casos en París; varias participaciones en el Festival Electroacústico de la Universidad de Florida (EE.UU.) y en el Festival Synthèse de Bourges (Francia); y su participación como conferencista y compositor en el Congreso y Festival “Soundcircus” del Sonic Arts Network de Gran Bretaña en 2004 con el apoyo de la Academia Británica. Posteriormente su conferencia en dicho evento fue publicada por la revista Organised Sound (Vol. 12.1) de Cambridge University Press. Desarrolla la actividad docente y de investigación en Buenos Aires en la Universidad Nacional de Lanús (UNLa) y la Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (UNTreF). Es uno de los Directores Artísticos del Festival Internacional Acusmático y Multimedial "Sonoimágenes" realizado desde 2000 en la (UNLa). Sus obras han sido editadas por la UNLa, el sello Cosentino de Buenos Aires, el Fondo Nacional de las Artes de Argentina, y el sello Pogus de Nueva York. Composer and researcher in acousmatic music, live electronics and mixed media. He is a founder member of the RedASLA (Network for Latinamerican Sonic Arts). Some of his works have been awarded prizes and honorary mentions, such as the Buenos Aires City Music First Prize (1996/97) conceded by the Buenos Aires City Government , National Composers’ Electroacoustic Rostrum-UNESCO 1994, National Composers’ Rostrum-UNESCO 1987. He received commissions and presented his compositions as well as his papers and gave lectures in different Conferences, Festivals and Concert Series in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Nederlands, Czech Republic, U.S.A., Canada and Australia. Among these, he had two commissions from the INA.GRM for their 1996 and 2006 concerts seasons, both pieces premiered in Paris; several participations in theFlorida Electroacoustic Music Festival (USA) and the Festival Synthèse in Bourges (France); and his participation in the 2004 Sonic Arts Network Conference "Soundcircus" in Leicester (UK) thanks to the support of the British Academy. After that event, his talk was published by Organised Sound (Vol 12.1) magazine from Cambridge University Press. He works as Professor and Researcher at the National University of Lanús (UNLa) and the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTreF). Since the fist edition in 2000 he is one of the Artistic Directors of the International Festival Sonoimágenes at the UNLa. His works have been edited by the National University of Lanús, Cosentino Records (Buenos Aires), the National Endowment for the Arts of Argentina and by Pogus Records (New York, USA).
