Back in the dim and distant past, 1974 to be precise, a band emerged from the English heartland. Whilst all around the punk rock movement was being born The Enid sung to a different song. Described in the Guardian as - "The only band on the planet to have successfully fused rock based music with the power, dynamics and scale of symphonic classical music. They are the absolute masters of their art and their achievements over more than twenty years of creative work set them apart from everything else which calls itself progressive."
The Enid inspired a considerable international following and fan base which quickly became known as The Enid Society. Radically different from a conventional fan club The Enid society held to the motto "All members one of another" They exchanged names and addresses, opened their homes to each other, sold T-shirts, badges and became involved on a personal level with each other as well as with The Enid. The friendships that ensued turned going to an Enid concert into a vast family get-together as well as a great musical experience. As The Enid Society grew a contact directory was published, Special Enid Society events took place; picnics and conventions as well as outings to gigs and rock festivals. Many of the friendships formed then have endured the trials of time, and many more of us fondly remember being part of something rather extraordinary.
This page is designed to be a meeting place for members of what was The Enid Society to reminisce and rekindle old friendships and to meet other Enid fans. Pull up a chair, fill your cup, listen to the music, browse the pictures, watch the movies and enjoy the company. If you have any tales, stories or pictures relating to your time with The Enid society, please send them in to share.

- "It is designed so that you can write to one another to swop ideas, thoughts, stamps, wives or anything you like. I would urge everyone to write to as many people as they can because as you know, communication is the essence of the society , and indeed the band. So, please try to write to othere members - I think the results could prove very interesting."
