Band Members: Kedou Ag Ossad : guitars, vocals
Nicknamed “Khiwaj†(the Giant), Kedou is one of the emblematic guitarists of Tinariwen, and of the history of the Tuareg rebellion. The mythical tuareg fighter who went into battle with a guitar on his back and a gun in the hand is none other than he! But Kedou is above all a great guitar player and a blues composer.
Liya Ag Ablil (aka Diara) : guitars, bass, vocals
Diara is one of the most important composers in the history of Tinariwen, especiallyduring the 1990’s. He performed on the first recording that Tinariwen did in Abidjan in 1992, with Abdallah, Hassan and Kedou. He is also Inteyeden’s little brother (co-founder of Tinariwen with Ibrahim) and plays very strange rythmic guitar, hard as a rock.
Sanou Ag Ahmed : Guitars, bass, vocals
Sanou is a symbol of the younger generation of tuareg guitarists. He is a very old friend of Eyadou, who plays the bass with Tinariwen, and they have been learning how to play guitar together, which is obvious when you see him play.
Issa Dicko : public relations
More than anyone else, Issa Dicko is the real founder of The Festival in the Desert. Today, he is the secretary of a Tuareg association, Tagheft Tinariwen (Ibrahim Ag Alhabib is the President), that is working on development in the Adrar of the Ifoghas, and which organises a festival, Les Nuits Sahariennes d’Essouk.
